Dog watching his trainer so closely, he wasn't noticing the actors. The really dumb thing about this episode is, the guest room was actually across the living room from Rob and Laura's bedroom, next to Richie's room, not adjacent to the living room at all.

People knew they were not actually married would be my guess. I personally think society was better back in those days. People respected each other much more and parents taught their children manners and to respect their elders. It’s a shame that in these “modern times” people are acting so horrible to each other!

It was a TV network thing, the network considered a married couple sleeping in the same bed too risque. The first married couple on television to sleep in the same bed was Darrin and Samantha on Betwitched. Lucy and Ricky Richardo on I Love Lucy got around it a few times by having their beds shoved together. They couldn't even say the word "pregnant" on television, they had to say "expecting".
