An often overlooked aspect is that Jon Jones never faces severe repercussions for his misdeeds which largely contributes to him not taking responsibility and changing his behaviour. The UFC are willing to give him a pass because they are so blinded by his money-making potential. The fact that he still has a driver's licence after all his reckless driving behaviour is absurd.

I’ve said this before but I think the fact that he’s a cokehead is more significant than the steroids. Cocaine sends your adrenal glands berserk, and alters your pain tolerance. This is why crakcheads can do all the impossible shit they do, like run on no food, work all day, take a beating and keep moving etc . For me, Jones is maybe the most talented fighter ever, but this combined with the fact that he’s done so much steroids (they all do it, so if you’re doing so much that you can get caught twice, then you’re positively blasting it, since USADA is pretty easy to dupe), I can never 🐐 him. He’s a cheater through and through.

Jones changed the game, you can't even fight without cheating, they had to change the rules to allow his push kicks to the knee, Diaz asked what they hell, those used to be illegal. Jones has by far the most effective eye pokes the sport has ever seen. His savvy use of PEDs also changed the sport, USADA is a thing partially because of Jones and he still has a career because he was willing to tell on a bunch if people USADA wanted to actually go after. Jones has been nothing but bad for the sport, he should never have gotten as far as he has, but the UFC keeps winking at his eye pokes and push kicks to knee, being on roids this whole life, and having no value for lives other then his own. Jones most brutal stoppage in the last few years was against his spouse but that's still fine with the UFC

Bro the “Dagstani grind” has nothing to do with it lmao. The problem wasn’t that jones didn’t grind hard. He worked his ass off, even harder than Khabib. The problem was when he wasn’t grinding in camp, he struggled with mental health and addiction issues. He said himself that he was molested as a kid. Combine that with the death of his Mom and sister, and the pressure of being a young athlete, and there’s no wonder why he struggles with addiction. Not that I excuse his actions because of that tho.
@jayquellin6583
@jayquellin6583 Жыл бұрын
@@GuyWithAPS5 Yeah but if he had the dignity and discipline that comes with being religious, he wouldn’t be a martial artist in the first place. His dad never wanted him to fight. If he listened to his dad and retired when his mom died in 2017, he’d probably be a lot happier. Unlike Khabib who kept his promise and gave up fighting once his dad died. That’s probably why Khabib is not as depressed, because he chose not to repress his trauma with addiction and keep fighting like Jon.

I guess what bothers me is the push he gets from the UFC. He can get suspended and/or take time off and then just come back and get an automatic title shot or contender match. Then he’ll sit there and act like he worked for it but sometimes it’s just been handed to him. I’m so surprised the UFC had put up with him despite how many violations he’s had in/out of the octagon, it’s just pretty much tarnished his legacy for some and has definitely shown the favoritism the sport has internally.

Jonny was poised to be Conor McGregor level of popular, but Jon Jones got in the way of Jon Jones. Still the goat, but nowhere near as popular as he should be, not for the in ring accolades at least.

Like him or not he is most likely the greatest who ever did it, the youngest champion of all time, the more title defenses and the way he dominated everyone who was put in way. I actually admired him for not really trying to pass himself for something he is not. When asked if was if he was a good guy trying to be bad, or a bad guy trying to be good he answered that he was a bad guy trying to be good. Kind of reminded me the way people talk about Maradona. Take the good with bad, not everyone can be the "Hero" that fans wants them to be, it is just a reality.

In 2013 Jon Jones said he wanna retire at 30. Dana White set him up so that the UFC would bail him out & Jones would owe them. It’s the same game they play in Hollywood.

I don’t think I could ever understand how he’s kept in talks about how valid his accomplishments are after testing positive for roids. Not sure why I can’t look past that. Not to mention the method in which he has been able to preserve a “legacy” when it’s foundation is based in deception. I just can’t support the guy in anyway and don’t even hope he loses, I wish he wasn’t given the opportunities he’s been afforded until he’s actually changed or at least faced repercussions.

I think they do it because Bones "never" lost, and TJ had lost before popping. Those fans are fickle and spiteful losers. They think being undefeated in matches is a measure of pure skill or something. The minute Bones loses a fight without controversy they'll act like they never knew him.

Jones will probably never have a legacy in or outside of mma: he is basically poor by athlete standards and they dont even disclose his PPV numbers anymore though that could also be a trend in general because interest in MMA outside of a Conor situation is down. Jones is also known as an eye-poking machine and a dirty fighter in general - Smith could have taken his belt if he didn't have mush brain. The second fight with Alex he went for a strike at his inner hip that could have been a fight-ending groin strike and was willing to risk it for that reason and after practically disabling Alex for the rest of the fight it was just pathetic. Jones looked awful against OSP, and one of the first times people proved that MMA media are all smoothbrained is believing in something called 'pulsing' which they practically made up on the spot. He then went on to put on an absolutely embarrassing performance against Santos - who fought him with one leg, and then he absolutely lost to Reyes but was saved by the judges anyway. His legacy against DC isnt great either because DC was diminished from his Olympic wrestling career and cutting to 205 always made him less - he was also old by then so it is not a trilogy that makes Jones look very good. Unfortunately Rumble died, probably because of steroid use, and Rumble would have likely taken his belt because he wouldnt have tried to wrestle with Jones like he did against DC in both of his losses. There was a time that even if you hated Jones you could at least say he was talented, but to be ducking people like Francis like he did and now Aspinal to fight the husk of Stipe is just pathetic and I think in ten years you will see Jon in the poor house if not dead.

I will always say that Jon Jones is the greatest fighter I’ve ever seen. The youngest UFC champion, great wins against great opponents with times I’ve thought he killed them, a fight IQ unequaled. That man was born to fight, I don’t think he is a good person, but nobody can diminish his accomplishments in the octagon. Just imagine how much bigger he would be if he didn’t have his problems and wasted his prime.
