The death of a businessman, reportedly after a fall while running from stray dogs, has reignited the discussion on what needs to be done to contain the stray menace on the streets of India. The stray menace has claimed several lives, including that of children. The debate on stronger action against stray dogs resumed on social media today. Many cited examples of the Netherlands and the US and how they have addressed the stray dog problem.

Tell Ambika Shukla to get all the stray dog lovers together & ask them to build stray dog shelter & look after these stray dogs. Stray dogs in residential areas are a growing menace & these dogs are posing a very serious problem, endangering our children & elders. The government should step in & get rid of these stray dogs

Each Society /complex should come together and use a portion of their maintenance towards neuter ing vaccinating and sustaining the animals in their area . Not only will that control population but also prevent new animals in your area. It is easy to say it is not my pet not my problem. But it is your society ,your family your surrounding . Healthy and social strays in area will only make your society safer .

i completely agree with you..thats what i want everyone to say. i don't understand whats the situation in the south. But where i live the dogs are completely opposite to what they are saying in the south. yaa i have seen pple kicking dogs for no reason. i have seen people stand against those cruel people. there are cows abandoned by their owners where i live..hit by cars, legs broken..this is too much. ok i agree cows are independent(but we domesticated them. isn't that our fucking responsibility now?)..but dogs..they were bred to protect the animals that they were suppose to eat. now they are evolved to eat almost whatever we eat(not chocolate though). what does that mean? they are fucking dependent on us.grow up stupid humans. They are what we have made them

Calling it a menace/crisis without either understanding or discussing the root cause or effective solution qualifies as propaganda against the voiceless animals. Dogs and humans have successfully co-existed. No animal sits and viciously schemes to bite a human or chase a human to death. If you provoke/attack/harm/traumatise instead, be it a human or a dog, be sure there will be consequences. Animals or Dogs, stray or pets, just because they can’t defend themselves can’t be turned into monsters when they are really the opposite. This is animal cruelty. Media must be more responsible.

Dogs become aggressive because of their living conditions. I am a dog lover who is looking after 20 dogs in my village house. Not even one is aggressive or caused damage to my goshala in my house.

Mr Som - Pl stop these nonsical programmes and raise real issues. There are issues about bad roads, lack of sanitation, lack of poor lighting in so many parts. For all you know, he fell in a pothole and hit his head. Because, as the hospital said, the dogs certainly did not bite him.

I really request ur NGO to initiate a step where by there will be no “strays”… each housing society need to allot a space to these lovely souls … as community members. Like Ratan Tata sir did when redeveloping the Bombay house.. had special accommodation for these locals… Many a times, people want to have such family members but can’t keep them at home.. with “community members”, animal lovers can look after them too.. This is not new “idea”.. people used to have such members , were welcoming to them, playing,looking after …but now a days , “high” society “humans” label these locals as nuisance

Stray dogs are not the problem. Portraying them so will not help either . It will only increase animosity between people and animals. Neutering vaccinating proper garbage disposal and social awareness on handling and interacting with animals in our surroundings is the need of the hour. All of this should be implemented together not one by one . Animals have a right to live too. They are sentient . Make society come together and sensibly control overpopulation and increase awareness . Don’t scare people . Scared people increase violence towards strays. Then strays taken the blame when they react . It’s a vicious cycle. Don’t increase people’s fear like this

We have made a survey of compliance with the law by the local bodies which have not made even 10 percentage. The arguments against stray dogs are absolutely nonsense. The issue comes out of intolerance.

We are living in a country were whole our life since atleast my childhood i have heard that 1st ROTI is for cow and last is for DOG compulsory and saw. we live in a country were we worship Animals- Cow as Gaumata, Elephant- Ganesh Ji, Mouse- Ganesh ji k vahan, Dog as staircase to heaven. and First and foremost we are humans. Aab bhagwan h banaya h unko bhi hmko bhi just because we are humans and hamare hath mai power hai toh rather then focusing on solutions what we r doing is focusing on making India Stray free. aur usse sabki saari problems solve ho jayengi- Rape nahi honge, Murder nahi honge koi bhi crime ni hoga. agar hoga bhi toh sabka justification hoga kyu because main kaam making India stray free toh hm kr hi rahe hai na baki sb toh humans ne kia h uska kuch ni jada... hme toh jada voiceless - STRAY se khatra hai. After 10 minutes i just quit. they are not talking about how to control the breeders. i mean they are producing more dogs to be abandoned by there owners(root cause) Do your research NDTV(bikaao saale). who is keeping the records??? who is giving them the licence to breed? who is keeping track of the dogs that were abandoned? Seriously, surprised to hear that....i have personally faced ...seen, dogs chasing two wheelers , and people falling by trying to escape and local people have come for rescue...I ve tried to escape getting scared, that they will bite me, we can complain when a human does that, who do we complain to when dogs attack us. It is a pity we have people supporting violence on this forum... children are dying, 😢... they will only realise when something bad happens to their family.
