My all time favorite band (without Michael!!). Their first 5 albums showed such an incredible diversity all done well. Saw them at the Cow Palace New Years 73-74' and many times since. Almost flew to NY to see this because every time they come to Colorado they play big arenas. Last time was Mile High Stadium. Come on guys, your loyal target audience is getting a bit old for those places. Come back to Red Rocks!! Is that Billy Payne on the keys????
@TheSaleen7865 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's Billy Payne who played the keys on the DB early studio albums. Good to see him back where he belongs. I hear you about Red Rocks. The Denver Pepsi Center seats up to (20,000 ) for concerts is a great venue with an exceptional sound system, and the air-conditioning is nice but RED ROCKS (9,525 seats) delivers the perfect atmosphere and views. All of the top bands want to play the big arenas because they can make a lot more money.Everything seems to have gone corporate now days. I live in Golden and the best DB Colorado show was at Red Rocks with Chicago several years ago. I'll be back stage July 3rd, I'll certainly let Pat and Tommy know that we want them back at Red Rocks!!

So someone said they'd like to have them go play in Germany, but I don't see it happen because they really don't seem to have a big enough fan base across Europe as a whole to warrant any kind of tour outside of the US. It's really bad for old bands to stop making new material because then they are perpetually doing a greatest hits tour. In 2016 I saw The Doobie Brothers and Journey in Cincinnati and it was a great show, but neither band really seemed to have too much new music. Sure The Doobie Brothers had apparently released a new album 2 year earlier, but they weren't making it apparent. I couldn't tell any difference in any of the music as someone who hadn't heard much of The Doobie Brothers before that night. The sound should evolve slightly after 45 years. I know Journey seemed to have a very similar issue until Arnel was brought into the group. They released two albums after he joined and the second was in 2011. They play almost NONE of the songs from those albums since they were released. Adding to it, the sound didn't change. You need to find a way to add in your unique sound and still have change. Other bands have an evolving sound and that's why they're successful enough to keep playing in arena's and stadiums on every tour. A few bands that have been around for over 25 years and evolved enough to stay relevant: Foo Fighters, Green Day, U2, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, and Paul McCartney to name a few. All of those groups have filled every arena and stadium that they played to near capacity, if not sold out in every show they played. However, when I saw Journey in the KFC Yum Center the next year in Louisville, they failed to sell anywhere near as many as those other groups. They sold so few tickets that the nose bleed sections were completely curtained off and everyone was moved to the lower level of seats and the floor. Another group that would have been in a similar situation without the recent success of the Bohemian Rhapsody movie, are Queen + Adam Lambert. Without the release of the movie I have no doubt that within the next 5 to 10 years of annual touring they may have been made to start playing theaters in some places without releasing new material. The movie gave them more notoriety in younger generations so now they are able to easily sell out arenas again. Without SOMETHING to draw in new generations then you are doomed to only play theaters of different types for all time. They don't have to hit number 1 every time, but you need something to draw attention to yourself.
