The other problem too is that 2k is so heavily monetized now that kids/teenagers no longer play the game. Back in the good ole days of 2k, the main demographics for the game were teenagers. But no parent is gonna give their kid $200 dollars for a virtual pay-to-win basketball game every year. So now the game has a niche fanbase of adults who keep the game afloat by spending $500 a year on 2k. AND they don’t have time to play and get better at the game, so they’re constantly selling and making the randoms experience god-awful. I promise you if teenagers played 2k again, it would raise the average skill level of the community because this fanbase is ass and toxic when it comes to this game

Honestly 2k started to fall off in terms of fun when they decided to focus on comp/sweats/cheesers/dribble gawds and nerf things to limit them instead of upping the defensive contact animations. They made dribbling harder, defensive anticipation means nothing in this game. Slow unresponsive gameplay.

Facts like this and the green only when this game has latency offline mode is ridiculous. They decided oh instead of making it fun and hitting a white from time to time to you hit nothing unless you’re perfect it’s kinda sad to me cause it’s a game with hella latency and other problems that mess with your timing. I think it’s why the rise of zens came on cause now you got guys who are tired of the small green windows and the constant changing of shot times and latency problems it’s a recipe for just wanting to throw my controller

17 was my favorite fr. I have to laugh thinking back on 19. Playing at the arcade overseas in the story mode. My buddy goes "bro why am I playing a basketball game within a basketball game?" ☠️🤣 21 was the last time it wasn't completely meh with a story fr. I didn't even play 24 at all.

I been playing NBA games since TV Sports Basketball by Cinemaware. 2k supassed NBA Live in 2k3. 2k10 and 2k11 were peak [before micro transactions] and I stopped playing at 12 and came back for 23... Currently got 1.3k hours in 2k24 purely playing Solo REC Centre. But yeah, game is just at it's core a horrible experience without paying VC. I learnt how to play so I play as god intended and 60 overall that bitch in the REC center 😂

Shooting was broken because latency and 2k servers are dog lowkey cus 10000 things have to render in for city so 2k changes shooting with patch but it messes up green window as a whole which affected dunk meter so dunk meter is broken dunk meter den gets fixed and now u can literally sit in paint for 20 second by spamming fake pass and triple threat and standing dunk !!! Every time 2k fix some it’s breaks some else dats 2k fault not da “community “

If u enjoyed 2K16 then you'd probably like 2K19 as well. I loved 2K16 and 2K19. 2K13 and 14 were cool too(some fan favourites). I really ain't enjoying 2K24. it's so bland and I actually enjoy the career modes that give u a story/ reason to ball. Coz I enjoy the life outside the basket ball substance that makes ur invest in ur player in the first place as opposed to the same old repetitive online park stuff.

Facts. Been playing 2k since 2K2 on Dreamcast... 13 was the real last great 2k. 2k14 was great on next gen, but like your said the micro transactions ruined the entire deal. My career I haven't even booted up since 2k16, and they fr haven't even added any true new classic teams since what, 2k12? they added the 19 Raptors and the 17 Warriors a few yrs back and even then TO had half the roster. I'll never understand why they can literally add an entire league from 35/45 years ago, but can't update the classic teams? They got 6 MJ teams, a trash 06 Memphis, and 04 Pistons literally missing the two key players on the squad, but can't give us the Dwight Magic? or the 93 Suns or 83 Sixers? etc? I play now for the my eras, but facts 2K fell into the Madden mold... make this game worse and more expensive every single year. 🤦🏾‍♂️

Thanks to 2K I discovered the love for basketball in South Africa basketball hasn't blown up like soccer or Rugby. Watching Chris Smoove play 2K and covering NBA highlights got me falling in love with basketball. This is where it went down hill for me also. They turned a basketball game into an rpg with this. Instead of having players with just high attritbutes in different areas, some being way better than others it’s like they put an old school madden card boost of some star players and called it badges. It completely eliminates skill out the game. I remember back on 2k10 if u had phx against lal u could best lal if u we’re genuinely good with phx. People talk about the modes but for me it’s the gameplay that makes it bad.

This game is a scam. Throughout the game play players fail to perform the tasks enticing you to search and spend money on better players only to see even they cant perform basic tasks that they execute fine during practice modes. Whats the point of selecting a shooting build of your player goes 0 - 10 when releasing in the green.
