As an italian, what I enjoy about your approach to italian recipes is the respect you show. You do your homework, you study how it should be done, and when you make any change you explain why. It's usually a very sensible reason.

Jacques Pépin’s method is even simpler: mascarpone, sour cream, sugar, vanilla. Lady fingers dipped in very strong coffee. Honestly, I prefer it to the authentic version.

breaking great authentic recipes and finding shortcuts and hacks to cut down the time spent to get 80-90% of the flavor will always be worth it. I made this 2 days ago, except instead of Cacao powder I melted some chocolate in microwave and added few drops of orange extract - it's not tiramisu, but after chilling it for couple of hours I got a crispy chocolate top with my favorite flavor. My gf followed this recipe except the topping she also used melted chocolate without orange flavor and we loved it. Took us 5-10mins to make it and couple of hours to cool it down, 10/10 simple desert

I have an egg allergy. I can eat eat eggs if there is no more than 2 eggs in the batter or dough and baked. I make pudding the old fashioned way- without eggs. (Custard is the one with eggs, but nor according to today's versions.) Tiramisu without eggs is perfect for someone like me. Doubling over in pain from the eggs ruins a great dessert. Thank you!

The traditional italian home version of the tiramisu does not require 100 bowls but just 2: one for the yolks and mascarpone, one for the egg whites. And you need fewer ingredients overall. We don't make "egg custard" in a double boiler at home but of course you will need to accept you are going to eat raw eggs.

A few years ago my daughter made a delicious tiramisu for the first time. After it was all assembled and in the fridge we said "wait you didn't cook the eggs they're raw!" But no one got sick lol and if you have good eggs that are fresh you shouldn't have to worry. Btw it was delicious 😊

I bought Trader Joe's frozen tiramisu, I was so excited. When I dug it into after it thawed it was WAY too strong, and WAY too much coffee. It was mushy and there was a pool at the bottom of the container. A friend enjoyed it while agreeing it was strong, so at least it didn't go to waste. I may have to try this, though.
