I started fig cuttings on 7/1 here in west central Florida and every single one of them have leaves so hopefully they're growing roots too! I so want to pull them out and look 😂

Quick easy way to propagate figs. I've done some air layers this year but have some limbs that I could do this method on. Thanks for sharing.

I look forward to buying a new variety from you. I have a super productive, huge brown turkey fig. But I’m interested in diving into a different type fig too!!

I started using the perlite trick this year. Seems to work really well.

Also, yay finally got the Louisiana Evergreen Shallots I've been trying to get from you guys. Thanks!

Thank you! I’ve been wanting to try this.

Air layer isn't for mass production but it is easier. Get those 2 piece balls, wait 4 weeks, new plant.

That LSU Scott's Black fig tree sounds so intriguing.

You can also do the same thing with figs but leave the growth point. Stick it about half way in a bucket of water. It will set out roots and you just transfer it to a pot. You can do a bunch in a bucket at one time. Leave a couple small leaves at the top. Change the water about every 5 days.

That’s good to hear! I was surprised he cut off the growing tip; I think I’ll try it your way.
@bungalobill7941Ай бұрын
@@margaretmarshall3645 You need to cut back the bark in about four places up from the bottom so it will soak in enough water before the roots develop. Seems to help if you just leave the cut bark sticking out on the stem and do not completely remove it. Change out the water when it starts to get murky. As soon as there are any tiny roots I then transfer it to a pot. Don't wait too long after small root development or it can start to rot. I also use a little Hormodin root stimulator when I transfer it to the pot. and I use ferti-lome seed and cutting mix for the medium.

How interesting, I've been trying to propagate a California pepper tree from cuttings. Through the fall and winter didn't work, literally the other day I was thinking about doing now, might have better results... Thanks for the how to...

Great content ,Travis We bought 2 fig trees from Lowe's back in February, I trasferred them into big wheel barrel pots ( 25-30 gallons) Ive given then stick fertilizers that you stick in the ground , 3 per pot and then again last month 4 sticks of fertilizer plugs . 1 is an Olympian fig and 1 is Violette De Bordeaux fig But no fruit . Should we transplant now into our dirt by our peach tree's ????? Curious were we supposed to get a harvest the 1st year ? They have grown 6x's from when we bought them ,but no figs ??? Im looking forward this time to hopefully ordering your fig cuttings . God bless you * the family . Mrs josette Montgomery county, Texas 🙏

Some mulberries' can be extremely hard to root some are said to not root at all. However I believe all things are rootable it's a matter of finding the right method.

I would love one of those Malta fig cuttings. I believe I have enough space for 2 trees. I think I’ll do one Malta and one Turkey. When should I plant? Upstate South Carolina.

Have y'all ever thought about selling just cuttings for a variety of fig trees? I actually look for cuttings to root myself so I would be interested if you did.
@LazyDogFarm2 ай бұрын
I don't sell cuttings because I think it would be a customer service nightmare. While some folks know what they're doing, others may not. And there's no way I can guarantee a cutting will take. However, I can ship a tree with 95% certainty it will survive and thrive.

My LSU Tiger is two and still no branching. Should I top it? If so, should I leave any leaves at all? It is very top heavy and I am afraid it will break in the wind. Should I stake it?

How did I not think about melting a candle? I have small crock pot with some water in it, candle wax in a small jar floating in it too melt the wax. Going out for cuttings. Well see if they do faster than the air layers i have going.

DO I NEED TO TRIM MY FIG TREE IF THEY ARE IN POTS BEFORE GOING IN THE GROUND?
@JamieAlvey13 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t because it would add extra stress to the plant
