Plus, you know, he's a vampire. He's only cold and rough around the edges towards Bella because he wants to drain all of her blood. In Midnight Sun, it's like 90% of what he thinks about. He literally can't help it. He's cursed, through no fault of his own, and yet he still has to be a good person. In all the Twilight-inspired/fan fiction type books, these guys are human. They choose to be this way.

As someone who has been creeped on by a lecturer for multiple years (in fact, he was the head of that area of my uni) it’s not cute, it’s not fun. Most of my other lecturers didn’t take it seriously until other students were telling the other lecturers about their own bad experiences with him. Apparently they've only adapted the first three books so far, so this could potentially be a 12-movie series. God I feel this. sometimes my heart yearns for romance but so much of romance media for women ends in marriage and pregnancy it's exhausting. I, for whatever reason, am pregnancy repulsed so this sort of ending ruins everything for me. not that this particular garbage was anything good to begin with, I just agree with the sentiment in general.

But I liked that they actually had conversations about kids (though it definitely should have happened earlier if they planned on staying together) and the timing and possibility of adoption. But then they screwed it up by including an accidental pregnancy anyway. How could you be so concerned about a baby screwing up your plans and then just.... Not take your birth control for a _month_? And did they just not deal with how that affected her schooling? I know for many people having that family life is part of the romance fantasy, but I dunno why so many are accidents. You'd think making a mutual decision that you're ready and having it be something you're prepared for would be more desirable. It's like how they actually had them go to therapy but then immediately he stopped going. They had moments where they brought up something good and then they just threw it in the trash. So frustrating.

I was like oh cool, looks like she's actually standing up for herself and saying that she both wants to finish her education AND be there for the kid and not let Gabriel take of it for like, the first (pretty important i heard) five years. Didn't think he was very mature about it and also yeah, that conversation should happen within a few months if you're both adults, but hey it was something. And especially in the case of shades of grey - like, getting knocked up by the crazy guy you've been dating for like 4 months on accident? Who you're only screwing because of the craaazy sexual chemistry and not because you're in any way compatible? That's a nightmare 😀 And yeah, as someone who is and has always been mega paranoid about their birth control, could not relate at all to that part 😅 I wouldve been suspicious of his sperm cell count for about two years in addition to that lmao And I wasn't sure if I'd blanked out for a sec or whether it actually wasn't addressed how that would then affect her future but ok.
