I believe what was wrong with the plot was, it tried to fit a lot of side stories, which were pretty decent, which made the main plot to get lost. I mean take the first Equalizer for instance, we had Ralphie, the guy who wanted to become security guard and our protagonist McCall helped. Then we had Teri, the girl who found herself in a place she didn't wanted to be, who McCall helped to escape and pursue her dreams. And those side stories were dealt very good because there were a few and not so complicated. But in EQ2, of course there was Miles, the lost young kid who McCall helped, then there was Fatima, who lost her only connection to her past but again by the help of McCall, she got her link to past back. Then we had Sam, who was looking for his lost loved one who found by McCall, and the girl from hotel, the child he helped to return to her home from Turkey.. I know these are not much but the runtime wasted on these could cut up to make main plot to develop faster. Also, in the first Equalizer, the last battle or fight, had a much better conflict than EQ2's. It was indoors and everyone McCall worked with was taken as hostage, that made me felt more conflicted than just Miles taken as a hostage to be honest. Also Miles' development felt very empty than Ralphie's in my opinion. In conclusion, I believe the problem with EQ2 was overcrowded plot, lack of character development than original Equalizer and lack of conflict. But again, this is only my opinion.. :)

I couldn't agree more. There were side plots that had nothing to do with the film and it really bogged it down.

As you grow older, you would not want to swear or act a bit too emotional in front of the camera all the time. Maybe Chris is sounding too 'boring' to you now, but once you have made a name for yourself doing what you love, you cannot make yourself seem unprofessional to the public eye anymore. I only found fault with 2 scenes really. I wanted a longer discussion between Pedro and Washington and really build the bitterness and resentment in each other. I wanted to see the anger through their dialogue instead of a resigned 'that's what it's going to be'. This is just a preference really but it seems like it would've have really honed in on this feeling like the main story. The final boss fight should have been longer and more intense. Felt cheap compared to the previous victim 15 Min before.
