Denzel Washington is a living legend of performance and acting. This man doesn’t need to win an Oscar to be the best. Equalizer trilogy is just phenomenal and is that special thanks to him.

Denzel is of course the king, but in Equalizer he didn't even have to work all that much. The scenes are directed, choreographed and edited incredibly well. Especially the first one is just one giant lecture on how to do action movies right.

Well, sorry to burst your bubble but the next E4 movie is projected to be a prequel and will delve into Robert McCall's past and what made him how he is. Unfortunately, Denzel is not planning to come back for the next movie. Maybe fans can help change his mind.

that's not what that line means. When a veteran and man of violence like McCall says that line, it is to convey that the young man has no idea what death and causing it brings - he doesn't know the gravity of going down that road and attaching yourself to other violent people and organizations (unforeseen consequences, limiting you to one type of lifestyle, excluding you from innocence and peace, causing PTSD for people killing and people witnessing the killing, etc. etc. etc.) But I think you knew that, and were just trying to be a smartass who reads lines from movies with a literal mindset (which, by the way true smart people know not to do) @@bobwoods1302

Benicio Del Toro does as good in the Sicario series. Damon does as good as he can after the changed writing after the Second Bourne. Reeves, does what Reeves does in the John Wick series. But not on Washington or Del Toro' level of course.

The whole scene with him telling the kid "You don't know what death is" really did kick in for me - After going through some hardships and hearing this it really hit me hard. From that day forward hearing this I focused so hard on myself. Its shocking what movies can do to change your life.

@@ChillClinton1999 never thought that deep into it and besides it's personal opinion anyway...but Denzel Washington and Daniel Day Lewis would for sure be on the top end of the list for contemporary actors... there's not one movie that they have made where they didn't give their best and all are worth watching more than once. Another reason why I like and respect Denzel Washington is that he's not some shallow Hollywood twat...he's smart, wise, philosophical and has a strong masculine command presence off stage as well and in that....I see in him a lot of the qualities my father had so maybe there's a bit of bias too lol.

@@duran9664 there's certainly more depth to McCall than Wick. The character of Robert McCall should be retired if Denzel himself retires from that role....he owns the role and no one else could pull it off. The Wick movies are fun though and Reeves is a legitimate expert on the gun range with top tier training. I can appreciate those things because I'm a gun nut and a range regular myself.

@664John Wick has high body count so you get a lot of value for money watching his movies. The concept of assassin's guild is always cool. But equaliser has brutality to it that I wish was in Batman movies where everything happens so quickly that you forget it's just second nature for crime fighter-ninja-bat person to be sneaky, fast and smarter than criminal masterminds that he has it all planned ten steps in advance. John Wick is just pure skill alone. Equaliser gives me what I want to see in a Batman movie. Nolan Batman flicks were good but his weakness was not being strong with action. (that's a shame given Batman is martial arts expert and would have the same skills The Equaliser guy has by identifying weaknesses and exploiting these along with paying atterntion to fine details that comes from being detective with high IQ)

I've always enjoyed Denzel Washington's movies. I also have great respect for him as a person. He has given a lot of his money to charity and doesn't live the traditional Hollywood lifestyle.

He's worth around $280 million. What he gives to charity is pocket change to most of us. He lives in a 28,000 square foot home in Beverly Hills, ya know the place where Hollywood people live. You just have him up there on a pedestal because he's stayed married and claimed he's a Christian. Be careful who and why you have people up there as hero figures.

If you want to satisfy your media depictions of justice and revenge against the bad guys, watch the 80s show The Equalizer - a lot of cool stories about capable people helping the small person who needs help. Awesome premise, and McCall in that show is slightly older and more dependent on subterfuge and trickery, but still kicks some asses.

I love this third film and the whole entire series of films. A good homage to the brilliant 80s Edward Woodward CBS show. Denzel as always, had a great performance in this film and all three films. Brilliantly written, wonderfully acted, & beautifully by Antoine Fuqua. This film is a great way to close out the trilogy. An old assassin wanting to account for his sins and protects, defends, and ultimately rescues a small town in need. McCall gets his redemption and a chance at a happy life, ending, in a small Italian town. I just love the cold look Robert gives at 6:40 after he kills the brother. Just chilling, that, and that music.

denzel is a true pro in all he does. ever since i first saw him in cry freedom in late 1980s, always fascinated by his performances. recently he did a film called "the little things" set in the 1990s. very down beat serial killer movie, and nothing like this action character, but once again his inner skills - spirit, psychology, emotional intelligence - render an impressive delivery, which might otherwise be boring but for washington's special skills as an actor. all the comments reflect this observation.

To me Denzel always gets a 5 star rating from me, because he is just one hell of an actor and you could put him in any trilogy and he would not look out of place and can you imagine if he joined my favourite trilogy that being the Fast and Furious and for me that would be absolutely one fantastic addition to the family. When you watch Denzel he plays every scene with all his heart and that is a truly remarkable and for me this is why he is a true Hollywood legend and a true Hollywood icon as well and I have only but respect for Denzel and truly gifted actor that is for sure.
