Reminds me of a fun fact. “Canned laughter” is a term for a recording of audience laughter intended to be used as a sound effect. Much of the most used canned laughter was recorded from the 50s to 70s, which was long enough ago that most of the people recorded are now dead. Albert Boner plays canned laughter during his show.

It's definitely not as lighthearted/humorous, but if you want a show about people sorting through their issues after they died, before moving on... Death Parade is a really good short anime about that. Made me cry a lot. Warning for a bit of body horror imagery (the first episode has an abstract pattern of organs painted on a board) but there's not much gore from what I remember.

the double meaning of "everything is okay" as both a declaration that marcel is content with how he lived and ended it in spite of how he died and the infinitude of the afterlife is such a small little insignificant point but so meaningful. or if you want to get real wacky the overlap in the spiral imagery and the infinity sign could imply that whoever was "just a friend" to him was in fact "everything" to him WHAT AN ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR WORK OF ART

Man. My grandfather just died, he was an artist, his name was Derrick Woodham and one of his sculptures was called the twister, it kinda looked like that spiral.. anyways, I’ve been looking at the clouds asking him for signs. Today it was raining so the clouds weren’t pretty. He showed me a sign through your clouds. Your beautifully perfectly carefully drawn clouds. One artist communicating through another. It’s been a rlly hard day. One of his daughters is trying to abuse my grandmother and it’s a lot. It’s all coming to a heated ending as we’re kicking her out of the house. It’s been scary. But I think another one of his and your messages is, “everything is ok” Thank you so much. Thank you so much. 🥺 I’m going to show this to my grandmother when I get the chance.

I came out to my dad last weekend and this week's been awfully tiring. All the grief I felt during years not being able to be myself, not feeling safe enough to tell him, I thought I would die. But watching this, the "shout loud before eternal silence, stand tall before going under", made me realize that he was the one person holding me back, the person I used to love the most, the one person I could never ever tell the truth. And now I did. This film kinda made me feel that this is not the end, this is just the beginning (as ironically as it may sound). Marcel being hit by the truck again and laughing maniacally is pretty much what I'm feeling now lol I'm free dude. Thanks for your work

I lost my best friend a year ago. They had so many plans for their comics, their characters, their stories. When we were younger, they told me how afraid they were that history wouldn’t remember them and that they hadn’t left a mark big enough on the world for it to matter Now I hold all those stories and characters and dreams for them. I wish they understood just how big of a mark they left on me. I wish they knew that they were my world
