This video makes me cry. These are issues I've struggled with for years. Even having an early warning is a blessing. Suffering from chronic migraines - any help is worth it.

Its true. I just didn't want anyone to be confused about what a migraine alert dog can do.

I have chronic migraines. For the past three years I have had them daily, where I will often get a migraine on top of a migraine, but I have started a holistic approach to migraine treatment, such that I only take medication for pain management when the pain is so bad I can barely think. The rest of the time, if I get started early enough (thanks to our pet akita who sometimes alerts) meditation or biofeedback help prevent the worst of the symptoms and the pain, if not there is always the cefaly or massage.

I’ve had chronic migraines for the last two years, every day all the time at different gages. I’ve been thinking of asking for a service dog due to this and many other things. I just want to thank you for your time, bless you!

To make it clear, there is no cure for migraines. They are a neurological disorder. Medications can help in prevention of them or they can help reduce symptoms, but they will not cure them. New cgrp medications have made big strides, but still not 100% relief or cure. Best medication for migraine is a headache specialist that is member of the American migraine Foundation as they are usually current with most up to date treatments. That being said, migraine alert dogs are such a powerful tool in prevention of migraines. Being able to get a rescue medication and fluids in asap will help reduce the symptoms of many migraines. Getting a person to a safe quiet, dark, place is also helpful. Thank you so much for what you do here. Can’t wait to get my new pup started on this journey.

I don't know if you are aware, but there are a heap of new medications coming on to the market after a fairly significant breakthough. 7 have recently been approved by the FDA and there are 10 more in the pipeline. Please keep training migraine alert dogs.

I went into training medical alert dogs because I needed one myself. Unfortunately Ive had 5 migraines in less than 4 days (very unusual for me). I won't be stopping this training anytime soon.

I have chronic migraines but can never tell when they are coming. I just wake up with them all the time and nothing i've tried so far has worked. My aunt works with service dogs but had never heard of migraine service dogs before (I'm from Australia). I've been hospitalised twice and am struggling to keep them under control.

I have chronic migraines which are sometimes hemiplegic. How do you think a service dog would benefit me?

You forgot fluffing out trash bags when changing the garbage! I would not rely on a migraine dog since bottom line is you still need meds. You can watch for other early migraine symptoms, blurry vision, auras, muscle tension in neck/face, taste differences, sounds changing, pulse sensation in the ears. I have cluster migraines with brain stem auras they started at 13. Max 28 in a month now I'm down to only a few a month and not as severe after getting on a good preventative injection and figuring out my actual triggers. But I wish I had figured it out 20 years sooner.

Hello, i have IIH which causes chronic migraines everyday. I trained my dog for ESA due to the depression it causes but i wish to train him in how to detect migraines. just my major side effec when i can't drive like vertigo, when one of my eyes blackout, and shorten of breath when i had fainted before. These are happen more frequently lately and I IH do not have a cure. so I'm just wondering if all or some of that can be trained with my current Belgian Malinois German Shepherd mix just turned four he's a high-energy but knows when not to be. Also I know this videos pretty old so I'm really not expecting a response but I will also try the website.

Krossadgitarr Jaaaa, tänk om det fanns här i Sverige!! Utöver ledarhundar för synskadade, finns tränas det mkt få andra "medical alert dogs/servicedogs" här tyvärr! I wish this excisted in Sweden. Unfortunately there are very few medical alert dogs/servicedogs here in Sweden.

Hi, do you train PTSD dogs? I'm a veteran with (a different diagnosis) by the AF, but my therapist disagrees and thinks it's PTSD. He is ready and willing to write me up for a service dog (it was his idea when I only asked about a write-up for an ESA). Maybe this isn't the right video to be asking this, but I was already watching it and my question came to mind. I only now discovered "Service Dog Academy".

So I have a question. I get chronic migraines at least once a day and it is just so hard. Can I get a migraine alert dog? I know that it isnt going to do everything that I need always but I was just in the hospital last weekend and this weekend because how bad they are. So I think that a migraine alert dog can really help me.
