The fact that this is loosely based on Spielberg’s childhood, his love for film, and the divorce of his parents, it’s safe to say that we’re in for something incredibly special. By the looks of it, Michelle Williams could finally win an Oscar. Spielberg may finally win a second Best Picture Oscar. I’m grateful for Spielberg and everything he’s given to the world. This will be on repeat till I finally see it on the big screen.

And still ~ I wait for the day that Spielberg trusts his audience enough to forego the telling & stick with the showing/revealing. We get it and it's far more satisfying to meet the movie and the story half way than have it 'delivered' as it is with Boris. Michelle Williams is, as always, the blue flame that burns away everything nonessential to character and story. Easy to see why Spielberg chose her for the role.

Hmmm, I guess I’ll be the only voice of dissent. Let’s see, Spielberg hasn’t done anything “special or great” since War Horse and Saving Private Ryan. Last movie that he wrote and was magical was “The Goonies”. That was a great movie being a kid of the 80’s. Remember, Spielberg is also the guy who has been bringing us all the Jurassic park and transformers garbage. Spielberg sold out to Hollywood years ago and all these people who post about “going to film school” and wanting to be the next Spielberg have no clue what they’re talking about. If the movie is anything like the trailer… then enough said.

@@sbeffeggiatore9511 Sounds like it'll be a masterpiece then. Movies that are genuinely bad don't typically have complaints like "Too long and boring". They're more geared towards the film itself being bad. Assuming you didn't like movies like BR 2049, Wind River, The Batman, Banshees of Ishirin. Those are just a random few examples of some exceptionally well made films that take their time to tell their story or to let the characters breathe and let the atmosphere breathe.

I've been a Spielberg fan for a very long time. Jurassic Park was my first real gateway to his films, and since then it has been an everlasting obsession with his films. Steven was the reason I decided to attend film school for college, and to pursue a career in filmmaking. Though the work I do differs from cinema, I would love to do future work in storytelling. I think Spielberg was and still is a huge inspiration for filmmakers all around the world. The Fabelmans looks to be a companion piece to Super 8 with a filmmaker following his passions. I am beyond excited to see this when it hits theaters, and I dearly hope that this film brings some awards to both the cast and crew. Cannot wait

I feel the same way. I've been a fan of Spielberg's work since I first saw Raiders as a child in 1981, although Jurassic Park was the movie that got me into filmmaking and has been my all-time favorite film since I first saw it. I also haven't exactly broken in yet, but I do a lot of screenwriting and no matter what Spielberg comes out with, his work always somehow ends up as some level of inspiration for me. I can't wait to see this one. I actually told this story, the story of his upbringing, when I did a filmmaker profile in one of my college film classes, so it's gonna be great seeing that story played out in his own style onscreen.
