Another great composition between Stewart and McLagan, following their debut composition "Three Button Hand Me Down" on the previous album "First Steps" from 1970

3:25 - Boom Bam B-B-Boom B-Bam, B-B-Boom B-Bam.... No, I just can't put that excellent drum break into words.

My favourite bit too. Also listen to Rod's cover of 'I Know I'm Losing You'. Kenney Jones does another great drum break in that too.

Imagine if he had a real drum set to do that with. This set looks like what Animal plays for the Muppets' Band.

BigsbyDude. That had to be the best show ever. Cannot imagine The Faces and Savoy Brown together. That's when music made sense. It was truly the roots of it all. And with Savoy that meant it had the original members who went on to form Foghat which knew how to rock too. This was when Rod/Ron/Lane/Jones and the boys were at their peak. Too bad Rod went south around the mid 70's. But this is good stuff, period.

This shows exactlty how good the Faces were until Rod split them up. Awesome clip! Thanks for posting it.
@justiceforall64123 жыл бұрын
Actually Rod didn't split them. Ronnie Lane quit first. I'm not a Rod fan btw. After The Faces I couldn't listen to him anymore without getting depressed.

Spec. Imho, Rod's doing it live. Rest of the stuff is pre-recorded. Doesn't detract from a superb live performance.

Ha yeah same here. "His name's Peeperelli- Peeps is just a nickname". The Sopranos definitely plays host to loadsa quality tunes-not least 'Living On A Thin Line' by The Kinks. I guess here's as good a place to name drop it as any.

Sorry Dustylou, I have a guitar made out of an oak toilet seat. Main differences are: my guitar has much cheaper parts, and I use a strap with tp like cloth hanging like Woody's. His has a single humbucker, mine has a single Stratocaster pickup. Look close at the bottom of Woody's guitar and you can see a "harp" tailpiece holding the strings mounted to the seat.
@jclpo17 жыл бұрын
Great song, but this is not the band playing but the record, with Rod apparently singing live. This was common in the old music television shows. But a wonderful video nonetheless, with Ronnie apparently playing a toilet-guitar! What's up with that Woody? Thanks for posting this!
@davetube6817 жыл бұрын
I love the Faces, but that toilet guitar is the silliest thing I've ever seen.

Ronnie’s way of rebelling against the fact that Rod was live and the rest of the band was pre-recorded. They did not like it

Agree, aussie. And I think also because whats out there now just smacks of some disrespectful attitudes. I think alot of groups today need some dignity and I truly wonder if younger generation big name "musicians" really love their craft? From this video, its apparent on their faces (pardon the pun) that these guys do.

Hahahaha! Right on Moog.!! I think really deep down Rod just really isn't a rocker. Not anymore that's for sure and I am not really sure if he ever was. I mean would a real rocker ever write or perform "do ya think I'm sexy" or "passion"? No, its obvious that Rod is much more content singing geezer and badf pop tunes now a days as sad as it is.

@0:20 the drummer is still riding his hi-hat when he clearly should've stopped. @3:27 the bass drum magically changes pitch. @3:33 the floor tom magically turns into a snare. @3:44 drummer hits a crash that doesn't make a sound. Also, where are the cords? Pretty sure they didn't have wireless back then. LAME! Say it ain't so Faces! Incidently, it seems Stewart is actually singing, which isn't suprising. He's always had a great live voice, even if his later stuff was crap!
@stevies516 жыл бұрын
"rod stewart used to be awesome when he was young i hate his later shit" shuttit ya fud, this is a windup right?
