The Gixxer is close, but it is harder to push the Hayabusa fast around a track, it wants to go straight. If you are a Moto GP level rider you can use the power of a liter bike, but for most of us the light bike with the short wheelbase is the winning combination. Pretty dumb to actually state that the size of rear drive sprocket on a motorcycle affects the accuracy or calibration of the speedometer! Obviosly is completely ignorant of the way things work in real life. The size of rims and tires will change the accuracy and calibration of the speedometer. Now the sprocket sizes will affect the top speed of the motorcycle itself and also the power delivery throughout the rpm range.
@yakupselmanefe40524 жыл бұрын
Believe or not, some bikes read speed from places you wouldn't expect so yes sprockets may change it since the bike might read from the crank, end sprocket, rpm- and maybe a miqture of all. My zx6 reads it from 3 different parts to give an example
@kleinbottled794 жыл бұрын
Shrug. My speedo is run off transmission speed not wheel speed. I think many (most?) bikes are the same. Gear changes affecting the speedo accuracy is a known thing in the bike world.
@jasonbrown73304 жыл бұрын
@@kleinbottled79if your motorcycle is shaft driven I believe it might be driven by the transmission. However I have yet to see a motorcycle that has chain and sprocket or belt driven that has the speedometer driven by the transmission. It doesn't make sense from an engineering point of view because people change their sprockets often to suit their personal riding needs. If as you say most motorcycles ran speedo from the transmission there would be businesses doing nothing but recalibrating speedos for bikes in every City and this is not the case. Especially since you have to have a special certification to recalibrate speedometers legally.

Will Johnson the Gen 2 Vmax is in its own class. To constantly bow to this beast that's practically unchanged in its 11th year production run is just too much for most. Hail to the beast.

@@93lilrock ...once you start modifying your bike the skies the limit, as long as your bike can handle the mods. My bike is one of the best to modify, toying with the idea of a supercharger. Which would give it around 230 BHP. Already changed the exhaust and air intake, breaks and suspension. Which gives it around 150 ish on the back wheel:)

Changing the gearing so your speedo overreads to increase 'speed' isn't legit? Destroying rider's dreams Yammie....

It's "liter" bikes not "leader" bikes. "Liter" is the metric measure of a displacement of 1000cc. And on this same topic, it's "dual sport" not "duel sport," "brakes" not "breaks".

Also, isn’t the speedometer hooked up to the front wheel, so gear changes won’t change the speedo reading? I suppose it depends on the bike.
@devo32434 жыл бұрын
@@leee3880 digital speeds are often worked out by the speed of the front wheel, but also by a magnetic sensor. Usually mounted so it pickes up the rotation of the front sprocket. That's why your speedo still works while doing a wheelie...
@AleksiJoensuu4 жыл бұрын
@@leee3880 Older bikes will often have a mechanical drive from the front wheel yes. Newer ones usually pick up an electrical signal from the gearbox or front sprocket. So they would be affected by gearing changes indeed. But, it's so that a smaller sprocket up front or a larger one out back will make a speedo run faster. If both sprockets were smaller, then it would depend on the amount of difference of course but generally speaking they would be offsetting each other. (One tooth in front is approximately the equivalent of three out back)

I’m pretty upset, recently I purchased a 2018 Honda grom with 48 miles for $2500, I learned on the bike, went 72 mph, broke the engine in and serviced it myself. That little bike had many people come up and talk to me, other bikers accepted me and welcomed me into their groups, I felt right at home. But 5 days ago a woman didn’t yield to the main traffic flow and ran me over while I was going for my daily cruise.. my bike is totaled and my leg got smashed. I still have my mustang but watching yammies vids puts the knot in my chest, insurance will pay out in about a week so that’s good. However when all you can do is lay in bed and watch videos of people doing something you wish you could do, it’s really depressing. I put 900 miles on the bike and learned that nothing else in the world compares to riding, banging through gears off stoplights leaning deep into corner pockets, riding with other bikers. I miss it. I miss being apart of it.

Swapping sprockets and weight reduction does help but after I lost my R1 and was forced to ride another 600 i feel much more intimidated around other liter bikes, my CBR 600rr is fun as fuck BUT she just doesn’t reach that top end like the liters😔.. I’ve tried pushing top speed and the highest I’ve hit was 150ish when me and a sweet Mercedes coupe danced lol.. other than that incident I drafted behind I hopped up Pontiac firebird at 161 but don’t think I could’ve did so without his drag... really hoping to get a 2015 and up model R1 soon.
