Most of the people that are suffering are those low life hungry belly clowns that doesn't want to work & are going about murdering & raping innocent people if possible when they go to robb their homes. Killing if you on the road if don't even have money as well. Because of Ms Janet a lot of women got positions that only men held in Guyana. If yuh skunt ain't no this then shut the hell up CLOWNFORD.

And what the hell..her claim that Janet was one of the few white women in Guyana in the 50s. Please you're doing retrospective history here ...there was a thriving Portuguese-Guyanese community. My Mum is Guyanese and I grew up in Mackenzie and then Georgetown and moved to England in 1976. Guyana is a beautiful place that has been abused by colonialists and then dictators and greedy politicians and now the oil companies are after it s resources. Sad sad sad

It was a terrible situation when the US got involved in the election and made sure cheddi was not going to be elected. Burnham was the worse choice . The people suffered for decades under his rule. Janet and cheddi were For the people. Jagan studied in the then USSR and the west was threatened by that. Guyana did not have higher education so student were force to study abroad it was not abnormal , many student went to Russia, England and the Caribbean. I lived through the 60s and was force to see a better life in North America. I arrive with 50 dollars and a suitcase. We were not allowed to leave with our money. I was 20 years old starting life in a new country leaving my friends and family.

Although the videographer seems to be honestly attempting to do her knowledgeable best, she lacks content and presentation accuracies of Guyana's social and political history. Guyana's "blood" siblings, hand-in-glove, were Jagan and Burnham, and Janet - true family, don't you know? Burnham and Jagan founded the PPP - with many others; and Burnham was Jagan's Minister of Education during the PPP COMMUNIST GOVERNMENT in - - - 1953 Young Guyanese must be told that these two politicians were "blood brothers" - not really enemies; and that they must desist from hurling racist epithets at one another. Guyanese Africans and Guyanese Indians must coalesce for the attainment of true Patriotic Nationalism, and the preservation of all of Guyana's territorial sovereignty, especially Essequibo. The fight should be over the long-over-due return to Guyana of her Island of Anacoco/Ankoko. It is sadly apposite to note that no Guyanese President has made any ACTIVE attempts to regain the territory seized from Guyana in - - - 1969. What a shame! However, at this juncture President Granger is exerting his best so that Guyana may retain its beloved daughter of Esse•Quib•O

That's a very good phrase "Guyana has been a porn" and Guyana was used by two very powerful Western countries for their own ends and knew what the consequences would be for Guyana for the future of the country and for that should be held accountable, but as is always with these Western powers they are allowed to go about their business without being challenged and held to account to put right what they destroyed. The Spanish, Dutch the French and on and on it goes have also caused so much pain in the world because they were seen as our Colonial Masters. The IMF has caused so much pain to Guyana but were are allowed to get away with their methods of loaning money to impoverished countries and then dictating how those countries should go forward economically even if it means causing harm to the people they are saying they are trying to help with their handouts.

Janet Rosenberg Jagan is a remarkably brilliant woman who made history multiple times in two nations, but somehow goes unnoticed by the majority. How many Americans can say they lead a free nation. How many can say they're amongst the founding mothers or fathers of a nation? To say she wasn't a born Guyanese doesn't matter. No one could be born in a nation they helped berth... And to state Janet was the brains behind the scene wasn't an overstatement or racism, it was reality. Cheddi was not competent in political science and Janet was. The difference being a farm boy who didn't have to know and a Jewish girl who had little to no choice in this world but know what must.

She stood through thick and thin with her husband for Guyana's Independence that came in May of '66.Then, as if that wasn't enough she weathered the storm for Democracy in Post- Independent Guyana for 28 gruelling years! It was not until 1992 when she and Cheddie saw light at the end of the turmoil tunnel that democracy was being restored! Some time had passed when again and sadly after the passing of Cheddie she had endured some more difficulties after the '97 Elections when she became Guyana's first woman President up until when she stepped down from the presidency in '99! She was awarded Guyana's highest National Award: The Order of Excellence - O.E; only two persons it was bestowed upon - the other being former Jamaican PM Mr. P.J. Patterson. She is known as the 'Mother of the Nation'. She came to British Guiana and endured the struggles like the women of the day. I saw a video of her talking about cooking on the green stoves - a kerosene fired stove. I don't know about anyone but for me she was full blown Guyanese at heart more than a white American! She will be remembered for eternity. RIP dear mother Janet. P.S. As I am writing this, Guyana has had its General Elections on March 2 and today is March 27 yet a winner cannot be declared! For a second bout(first being the Burnham era of 28 years) Guyana's democracy is being under sieged! For the very first time, a sovereign country's election was rigged on 'TV' in the presence of Elections' Observers from the Carter Center, the OAS, the EU, Canadian and British High commissioners along side the American Ambassador! Both Janet and Cheddie fought a lifelong battle for Guyana's democracy and they had it! Come see what is Guyana today from what it was before 1992 up until 2015. But democracy, left in the wrong hands would soon be trampled upon here in Guyana! Dictatorship is coming back lest something quickly is done today !

The guy at The end is most informed however he is making a sweeping assumption that in the 50s the average Guyanese wanted a Marxist state...which was what Jagan was proclaiming. That scared alot of people. But he s right that the country was stitched up by the British and USA in the 60s and they put Burnham in...and he turned out to b just as bad

Just for the record Cheddie Bharat.Jagan is of East Indian with a lineage of Aryan Descendants an ancient people of India that many Germans and English want to share the same common heritage. His mother tongue was Hindi a lower form of contemporary Sanskrit a language that most languages in Europe traces back their roots especially Germanic and Slavic languages. So Cheddie Jagan is of Caucasoid origins of darker shade than so called whites. In some countries Irish and Scottish were not consider whites since this was a class struggle. The WASP would not considerd Portugese as Pure Whites because they cleary define Guyana land of Six Races.

Ms Jagan was a radical woman contrary to what Mr Chip Rockfellar think who was never afraid of going to jail or even afraid of deadth, She used to protest a lot against the dictorial PNC refered to the Black Nationalist Movement, She would lie on the road, when the British overthrow the PPP Government in 1961, she came down and save Donald Ramotar and pulled him upstairs, see former President Ramotar tribute to MS Jagan.Guyana policies does not reflect that of Socialism as claim by you sir it reflect a Capatalist economy under both PPP AND PNC Government.Guyana is a Plural society so there always get these race conflict and one race being suspicious of the other, sir u need to do some more reading and research and stop talking nonsense.

SHE POISONED THE MINDS OF MOST OF OUR East Indians ancestors & her poison has been transfered from generation to generations. WHEN JAGANISM GET OUT OF THE BLOOD OF OUR EAST INDIAN POPULATION THEN GUYANA WILL BE FULLY LIBERATED FROM RACISM & WILL BE MORE PROGRESSIVE IN EVERY AREA. I'm sorry but the information being said from this professor is all wrong and bias. For one Forbes Burnham was never a dictator he did more for his people than his predecessors national service Free school and University. Janet was a crook she wasn't even elected president when her husband died she placed herself there and had herself sworn in behind closed doors when Parliament was still going through their motions for election. Janet's parents were not accepting of Cheddi because he was of colored ethnicity he was East Indian but they say him as a negro and even to the fact she and he were not accepting of blacks in her later years in the Guyana government she has created an even greater divide between the Indo and Afro Guyanese.

Let me ask you something, did you ever visited Guyana ? what history do you really know about Guyana first of all you give me ten example of world presidents that was born in another country and was able to be president in another country ?it don`t matter how long someone is living in a country once they are`t not born there they could`t be president just because of the ethnic division that is why she was elected/selected as the president. Look in India Sonia Gandhi could be president but which kind only for the indian congress party as she is a born Italian, the indians would`t allow it this century or ever, but in Guyana with a complex ethnic politics i hope that nothing like that ever happened again, in Guyana again But Suzanne Wassererman i think you should have stayed of of Guyanese politics of which you cannot fathom the complexities and of which you dont know nothing about.

well we loved Janet in Guyana, and SUSAN w Wasserman was almost apologising because she was white, well it had nothing to do with her white skin but, because she was very popular because of what she done for the Guyanese people, the Guyanese people loved her, and by the way she was not the only white person in Guyana,we had loads of white and Portuguese people until the racist Burnam came to power. And another thing Guyana has 6 races not two and the African Guyanese make up 20% and not half of the population of Guyana, so I have to correct the misconception, and Guyana has 2 3/4 million abroad. Yes we also love Jewish people in Guyana.
