There were probably smaller, friendlier wolves who had trouble finding food because they had somewhat weaker hunting instincts and had been rejected from the pack because they weren't like the other wolves. They would probably at first hang around villages to steal food, but once the villagers figured out that they weren't dangerous, they could fairly easily be tamed, being desperate and lonely. I find that scenario more likely than that a human would (successfully) kidnap a wolf pup (wolves are usually not at all neglectful parents, and even if you could find the den and lure the whole pack away, they could track you down- by smell, even if you covered your footprints perfectly- and get aggressive). Still, I've had an argument on this exact topic with someone who thought that wolves must have evolved naturally into the same form as dogs, which I think is rather ludicrous because dogs would not have survived in the wild.
@DeathnoteBB2 жыл бұрын

@isitsweet95672 жыл бұрын
@@DeathnoteBB I've heard a pretty terrible story about this one wolf pack where the alpha female was so bad that she ate her own sister's pups, so in the end the family mutinied and bit her to death (the description was painful to read) though the sister, who was pregnant again, had the grace to adopt Alpha's pups. This wasn't in a normal pack- members kept getting shot by humans to the point where their one surviving brother and the sister's partner were the only males, and this had been going on for several generations with each one becoming more disturbed. I think wolves are very much like humans socially and emotionally, in that their essential nature is to be loyal and loving like dogs, but they also have a hardcore side because of their ancestral environment and the need to hunt ruthlessly to survive. If there's a stressor, a real or perceived need or danger, the we-stand-by-each-other code is tested and hierarchies can form according to who is seen to be contributing more than others. In the same manner, humans' hard core resents those it considers softer, because one who doesn't hunt would be dependent on a hunter and give nothing back materially. Public executions and such things identify and torture the soft one in the audience who can't deal with the violence that the society proclaims is a necessary part of life; such an individual is weak, and a leech of society, and we are even more disgusted by weakness than by villainy.

I love how I never taught my dog the popular dog "trigger" words, so people use them to try and excite him and he just stares in blank incomprehension and then their brain malfunctions because they thought these things were inherent to dogs and they were gonna have a good time intentionally teasing him and making me uncomfortable about my dog acting out and then NOTHING happens and that's hilarious to me. You can say walk. You can say vet. You can say cookie. You can ask if he's a good boy. He'll just be like "I dunno what you want from me, why are you like this?" and they think he's the calmest dog ever when actually he's not.
@SugarandSarcasm2 жыл бұрын

My dog gets excited any time you talk to him. When I got him he was a bit ignored and scared of people, but now he has realised that if you're paying attention to him it probably means you want to stroke him, rub his belly, play a game, or offer a treat. Also means it's impossible to mention him in conversation without him jumping up or similar. He doesn't know walkies or similar, that's much too advanced for the loveable goof.

My dog doesn't understand fetch - I guess she was never taught it by her previous owners. So I like to hand someone a ball and tell them to throw it for her. She'll watch the ball fly away, then turn back and look at the person like "the hell you throwing things for?"

As someone who has owned both cats and dogs, I find their relationships with humans fascinating. What humans have done to dogs is both impressive, and obvious. They have been trained and conditioned over centuries to be ideal companions. What humans have done to cats, as far as I can tell, is absolutely nothing. A cat will just walk into your house and decide he lives there now, and then you go out and buy food and litter.
@azathoththeprimalchaos22892 жыл бұрын
I mean, that's how cats became pets. Whereas wolves were tamed and bred, cats were attracted to homes by mice and other vermin, and so we kept them around to help deal with that issue, since the cats themselves weren't troublesome (or atleast, not nearly as much as an infestation would be). Cats even have a symbiotic relationship with a kind of bacteria that makes humans like them. They did indeed approach us. Wolves may have too originally, but its unknown at this time, and even then it would have just been because we had food scraps with us we gave to them. Dogs are bred companions, and Cats are have a symbiotic relationship with humans (eliminates pests and makes us happy in exchange for all the things we do for them) that they instigated all on their own.

In our dimension, maybe. But these videos don't take place in our dimension. Unless this is your first one, I would think you might have noticed before now that if this were our universe, then we somehow invented all kinds of advanced tools but didn't name them until we had been using them for a long time, and we had a department to name colors around the same time we finally got around to naming fruit, which was _after_ we invented cars but before we ever had babies or hung out on beaches...
