Vivo and Xiaomi are the few manufacturers now that have amazing one-inch sensors at 50MP minimum, and they put those huge sensors on all triple cameras. The kind where you get crisp, detailed, noiseless images with little to no processing, even after zoom cropping. Since computational photography isn't their forte (though they still have some additional features), they make it up by using a camera setup that's good even without computational photography. On the other hand, Samsung, Apple and Google are still a year behind - racing for the 48MP small sensor cameras.

Having an Oppo X7 Ultra I can understand this. The camera science and optimisation in those phones is amazing. Only negatives are that they tend to beautify faces even with the function off a bit more than the competition and that in China exclusive ones many western apps are not working as smooth as the ones with a global rom, no android auto, pay, limited notifications etc

Samsung is going to milk 5000 mAh like how apple is conservative with battery sizes. Chinese companies rn are trying out new battery tech and pushing boundaries with camera hardware

Samsung and Apple are going for optimization rather than just increasing battery sizes, that’s why both phones can beat nearly all phones. These Chinese companies do minimal optimization, which takes less R&D and time just to release these phones quickly only to have issues later on like the Xiaomi 14 series.

I agree that Samsung does have gimmicks but having a smaller battery and beating the OnePlus that’s pretty good optimization, that’s why it takes a decent time for Samsung to release their version of the snapdragon chip each year.

Congrats on your relationship with Vivo getting better that you were sent out there by them to cover this phone, that's no small feat. As a Pixel user for several generations now, I just don't feel the need for anything more in terms of raw performance that what I already have. It's great to have variety and choice, that's one of Android's best benefits but personally I feel like we're at a place now that for day to day use, a large chunk of people have settled into a rhythm with the tasks they perform on their phones and sure there are those fringe users that do more hardcore things where more horsepower is felt and needed but spec wars are largely a thing of the past, as much as MediaTek and Qualcomm would love you to believe otherwise and their marketing departments are still hard at work trying to push their respective chipsets. I love raw hardware so for me it's always interesting to do deep-dives on what separates a Dimensity from a Snapdragon but I know that in realworld day to day use, many won't ever need or approach the performance ceiling of these chips.

Does the x200 have an IR blaster? On their website its mentioned on the spec sheet but from what I've seen so far, it's not positioned on the top of the phone. Is it inside the camera module like Xiaomi did last year?

Theoretically, it should work fine if you're on T-Mobile or an MVNO that uses T-Mobile's network. T-Mobile plays nice with Chinese ROM phones. I have the China ROM version of the Honor Magic 6 Pro. Only caveat is that some features may be region specific, which is a bummer.

if you are able to load games into the Vivo X200, please run the suite of games and one special request for CarX Street Mobile. That games seems to run okish on the last flagship but frame times are all over the place aka stutters. Can you confirm if the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 will be a smoother experience? Also stress test using 3DMark and see if the phone throttles

Seeing how all these Chinese phones are crazy thin how are they at managing heat? I had all kinds of heat buildup problems with the two S24 Ultras that I had and I ended getting rid of them. I attributed that to the change to titanium frames since I never had that issue with my S23 Ultra or either the Zfold5 or ZFold6. Check out the Rapunge district while you're in Tokyo. I was stationed in Japan for 12 years, up north (Misawa Air Base). Crazy how the McDonald's there looks just like the menu picture when you get it. 😂 Unlike here in America.

Vivo China Rom can rock any global software you'll see and is still working in android auto and assistant, vivo have features working on apple.. They got the best camera phone. And the most fluent software! Nonetheless the blue copiloy assistant is close to chatGPT l. To me Vivo flagship are the best imo. 99% of Samsung features are useless for most user when you think of paying more for software still you need to use it to get a fair deal and to me vivo on software and hardware are the best!!

It's because they already have released the A15 source code publicly for developers. But they haven't released A15 on their own pixel phones. So other companies now can put their own skin on top of A15 on their phones

@@petearmstrong2778 i think the reason why google isn't releasing android 15 on its pixel devices yet is because pixel phone doesn't run on Stock Android itself, it is using the Pixel experience on top of the android version. Just like any other smartphone companies who have their own skin on top of android, google also made pixel experience on top of android. The "Stock Android" released last September is barely usable and is pretty bland.
