I remember this fantastic doo wop song. Period shows use these classics with the amazing harmonies. Pure music.

The Flamingos were one of the early 50's doo-wop groups. They were known for their great harmonies & choreography moves. They influenced other acts such as The Temptations later on. "I Only Have Eyes For You" is their biggest hit but they had quite a few good songs "If I Can't Have You", "That's My Desire", "Golden Teardrops", "I'll Be Home", "Lovers Never Say Goodbye" etc.

No matter how packed the dance floor was, you and your partner never bumped into anyone because you pretty much just held each other close and swayed in place to this one😊

I feel like the Flamingos gave it a theatrical dimension where you just feel like they are singing it on a street corner but one is there a couple are on 2nd floor balconies and just staged in different areas of the scene.

I was 3 yo, but it’s the dreamy sound of the late 50’s “Do-Wop” sound, that still is sooooo smooth.

This is "Our" song my Husband will be celebrating our 49th wedding anniversary this November 15th. I was born in 53 and my Husband in 52. When we were dating in the 70's this song came on, and we found out that we both loved this song!!! It was played at our wedding, so this became "Our Song". Thanks for your reaction!!

To show you how OLD this song really was when the Flamingos recorded it, “I Only Have Eyes For You” was composed in 1934 by Harry Warren with lyrics by Al Dubin. This tune was featured in the 1934 movie “Dames,” first as Dick Powell singing to Ruby Keeler, then as a production number in which Powell sees Keeler's face everywhere he looks. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJm5loSMaq11mMU

Back to the innocent 50's, my first decade. This song was actually written in 1934.

And it's the best version of the song that nobody could top! The man who did the arrangement for it (A Mr. Johnson) I think is still alive, God Bless him for his efforts and his talent! 👍

Well, what a coincidence, this afternoon I spent hours with my laptop and KZbin listening to non stop doo-wop music from the 50s and now you pop up on my algorithms with this song because I've just watched your Dear God, Ren reaction video. Go down the doo-wop rabbit hole and you're in for a treat. Such great music.

Such a timeless song and nice reaction. Nothing like a good Do Wop song to start the day and this is a banger,so well know but deservedly so. Man how far we have come since then and compared to todays music it's sorely missed.

"I Only Have Eyes for You" is a song by composer Harry Warren and lyricist Al Dubin. The song was written for the 1934 film Dames, in which it was performed by Dick Powell. Several other successful recordings of the song were made in 1934, and it later became a hit for the Flamingos in 1959 and Art Garfunkel in 1975. - Wikipedia
