Who would’ve thought that Fred and Barney, as childhood friends, have met and knew Wilma and Betty since they were kids? Then much later, they meet them again in their adulthood? Could be another alternate continuity. Even so, that’s what makes it great.

It's a spinoff that followed "kids" theme in cartoons back in the 90's. It mattered not to the writers that this show didn't follow continuity.

It was like them trying something new with their franchises in the 1970s, whether outer space (Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space; Yogi's Space Race; Galaxy Goof-Ups; Space Stars), adding caricatures of famous TV and movie stars as special guests (The New Scooby-Doo Movies), or making blocks with supporting characters who later got their own timeslots (Dynomutt, Dog Wonder; Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels).

I loved the original Flintstones as a kid, but I really didn’t mind this spinoff. It was cute. I especially liked the Captain Caveman segments.

Actually in the original Flintstones series, Fred and Barney didn't meet Wilma and Betty until they were around 18 working at a hotel.

Getting a huge Charlie Brown vibe from the dancing. Tbh the art style is cute and I love theme. However, it pretty much took anything adult about the Flintstones and turned it into fluff for kids. It’s not the worst babied cartoon out there, though. This one is pretty tame. Just cute nonsense.

[shrug] There really was no hard and fast lore for the Flintstones. Over the course of the original series, the appearance of side characters like Mr. Slate would change. So would Wilma’s maiden name (from Wilma Pebble to Wilma Slaghoople) and in Dino’s first appearance he was a housekeeper type character who could talk.
