The boys that do chopping competitions use a front lanyard. You put your hand in through the top. If is slips out of your hand it pretty much stays put. You do the same with a rear lanyard and that knife goes any where it wants to. Try it out.

Purchased the micarta version. It's blade came bent a bit towards the end. Easily noticeable when in your hand. It also had one of those rust spots on the underside of the tang. I know it's cheap priced, but honestly I expected better.

I reviewed the green one last week. it's a very good scandi grind , much better than some bigger brands I've had. After making my vid I realized the "secondary bevel" wasn't a polished micro edge. I took it to a loaded green compound strop and it came off. It was a wire burr, it was so stinking sharp and the steel is really hard you couldnt tell. Now its amazing. I've had just about every popular bushcraft scandi under $100 and I can say this knife, is one of the best I've used. The grind is very dialed in, and it just slices through wood with ease. I think it's probably the best budget Bushcraft knife on the market. The next best deal that I can compare it to is my Enzo Elver, which DLT has for $49 as a kit. It's in 12C27n stainless sandvic steel and is a beautiful little puukko style knife. I know the BPS knives are in that same price range with good sheaths, but in regards to the steel and edge quality, it's not comparable IMHO. As you pointed out that coating on the sheath is weird but ...$20🤷‍♂️who can complain 😉

I ordered two and neither one had worm holes or rust. It's not as hard of steel as the D2 used on most Ontario, Kubbey, Civivi, but it's not total crap either and based on the weak sparks it throws when struck with chert it is not simply high carbon. It is a nice shape for bushcraft, spear point is as durable as a point can be ( not the best shape for skinning of course ). The price is so low I was expecting junk. But this is a really serviceable knife and sheath. Overall a good value and if you destroy it or loose it just grab another one.

Some people don't trust the rear lanyard hoops for safety due to the knife swinging backwards and stabbing them in the leg. A hoop on the front doesn't allow the blade as much travel if you lose your grip. Screwed in scales are nice as you can tighten them if they come loose during batoning... Which might be risky if that D2 is brittle from such a high HRC. Looks like a good investment if you prefer edge holding capability over ease of sharpening (as in the mora or BPS).

Bonded leather, also known as reconstituted, blended, or composition leather, is a manufactured upholstery material that's made from leftover animal hide scraps. It's coated to look like genuine leather, but it's not as durable and usually contains only 10-20% real leather. It's not a condor sheath (budget knives with true leather sheath), but well made overall. The strap firmly holds the knife & has a nice design. For a scandi grind knife it's a brute with a sharp 90⁰ spine. A little file work along the scales & tang & it turns out beautiful. Well worth $20.

Sounds very good. But for the price, I’d go for a Mora Companion. Softer metal, sure. But much less likely to chip or break, and it can be more easily sharpened when exploring the bush. But that’s just my preference.

That front lanyard comes from the blade sport knives. The front lanyard is really nice when you try it. Im not convinced you need a lanyard on a knife that size. But as im getting older and i see friends and family with hand weakness i guess it can be very helpful. Thats just my opinion take it for what its worth.

Great review. I got one and luv it. RAZOR sharp blade. 90° spine. No rust spots like yours. Luv the heavy heft and blade thickness. Yes, the leather seems like a nice woman's purse. It is a notch above my 2 BPS knives and they are excellent for the price. I would pronounce it " F is ah" rather than "Fleesah" like you do. Thanks.

A D2 Scandi??? You want a scandi grind, with its zero degree edge angle, in a softer steel that will roll under stress, and quickly re-strop. Having such a thin edge angle of D2 steel, on the other hand, will produce a bunch of microchips with hard use. I wouldn't chop or baton with it, and, only buy it if you are good at sharpening and reprofiling your blades.

I found from China.. D2 is just a label sometimes. Not a true identification of the blade steel. Have to test it. The front lanyard hole also is for making a small "thump loop". Helps hold the knife in the hand. It's probably a copy of another designer. That is why there is no name. Hard to link it. China seems to be stealing and reverse engineering other people's designs. Benchmade is having a huge clone issue, as well as Microtech.
