When Budokai 1 released that was the first time hearing the Funimation dub of the Saiyan arc. It wasn't until 2004 or 5 with the ultimate uncut edition of DBZ that Funimation could then dub the anime. something about pioneer or ocean having the rights at the time, i think.

True. Even when we heard Nappa in the 2000 Bardock movie or Recoome in the anime before 2004, Either Chris Sabat voiced him or the voice didn't seem quite right.

Nah this game still gives me chills … as a kid this shit blew my mind , budokai 1 was the perfect introduction to the series for me

1:31 the weird transformation switch for goku it reminded me of jiren "respawning" after a big hit by ui goku before powering up

I keep referring to this game's story mode as "Dragon Ball meets Mario Party", and I've always liked it for being the most creative story mode compared to just about every other DBZ game made since that have pretty much always retold the same story mode over and over again. Among the few things the game did improve on over Budokai 1 that I've appreciated is that they reduced Goku's Kaio-ken forms (or King Kai Fist as the first 2 games called it) to just one, cuz Budokai 1 gave Goku three Kaio-ken/King Kai Fist forms that made his Super Saiyan form nearly impossible to maintain as a result and even made him stronger than SS2 Gohan in the game, which makes total sense, heh. Of course, they probably just did that in Budokai 2 since Goku also gets his SS2 and 3 forms in the game.

The forgotten sequel actually is Infinite World, this was Budokai 4. 3 but just better gameplay.
