Black/White were the last games I played ended up getting before my break from the series. I got to say, they went all out with this and being able to travel to “liberty island” near NYC to find this little guy was definitely a great moment I’ll never forget.

Me, too. I played Emerald, Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heart Gold, Soul silver, then pokemon Black which I hated the changes, so I stopped playing the main series, and played side pokemon games instead, like rumble, pokepark and ranger.

I can very clearly remember being crushed when I opened up my Pokemon black case on Easter only to find out I missed the event by a week exactly, I was 12 years old and put over 500 hours into leaf green with no events or mythicals, I was so excited to finally be able to do my first event and I literally missed it by a week!! To make matters worse, had it been a birthday gift I would’ve got the ticket because my birthday is march 11th! Hahaha glad I can laugh about it now and I still really enjoyed the game and also I have obviously done the event and plenty others now thanks to modern devices and file preservation, I still have my Pokemon black with the case and inserts lol

Hey, just to lyk, I believe you still can still get the event! Do a google search for either "Wiimmfi pokemon black" or "wiimmfi victini event", and you should find a tutorial for how to connect to a fanmade wifi server that has been set up to distribute all of the original mystery gift content!

I also later obtained an event Victini that had a special moveset that included fusion bolt and fusion flare. So I ended up with multiple victini over the years as they have been distributed in the usa

If you have the original BW games and have certain equipment to unlock the DNS exploit. It's not easy and can be a bit costly.

Victini is my personal favorite of the mythical pixies. It’s adorable, the inspiration behind it is creative as heck combining rabbits, apples, and V (the Roman numeral), Fire/Psychic is always a welcome type combo, the colors are nice (especially its shiny), it’s just a perfect mythical. The Liberty Garden event for both Gen 5 games made me like it even more when I got to play it years down the road

I joined Gen 5 late so never got the chance to have Victini. Never even did in later gens cause I wasn't really there when they have those mythical events. I'll be sure to catch up in the Gen 5 remakes. Also LMAO I'm a member? Mist have been through a gift on one of your streams, glad to be one! You can get this event Victini still with the DNS exploit. There are fans who run servers to keep Gen 4/5 online functionality up, which includes all mystery gifts, like the Liberty pass that gets you this event. They're legit, not hacked, cuz the events are legit, but the date of course will be the catch date, unless you change your ds clock.

You can still get it. You have to look up how to get mystery gifts nowadays there are videos that allow you to do it on your cartridges. Only problem is that it’s at random and you can’t choose which one you get.

I still remember how I got White at the release date in Germany and did the event ^^ It was really cool :) I still have my safefile from back then (I bought Black as a game to replay, so that I don't have to restart my game xD) The Black and White movie is pretty cool, it's weird that they made two versions of the movie, but that's actually also funny, cause you can choose which movie to watch and certain characters and Pokemon change, while the story stays the same xD But I also have an Action Replay for DSI so I guess I could do the event easily again if I wanted to xD (or DNS)

Actually you could still access this event up until at least last year, potentially still can. I played through black about a year ago or so and kept my victini as part of my team. Took it all the way up to the champion. I named it fanfare

I guess you say those who had the game early got lucky to get victini. I missed out the chance to get, this the start of missing out other event pokemon too. My Victini came from another time the 20th anniversary and got sync pair in master. The reason why I remember victini was the one that got away, but returned. Also being 000 and cuteness.

Oh, this event is not forgotten. This was the first event I ever got to take part in since I didn’t have internet or an easy way to get to game stores when I was a kid. I loved using that Victini. But then I finished the game and wanted to start over. This was before I had Bank, and I didn’t have any friends who played to temp trade with, so I had to give my Victini up. I miss that little guy.

I played this event with my first run through the game. My pokemon levels where as team plazma, but still an easy challenge. And, Victini became one my party pokemon through my first run until I beat the real Champion.

As cool as limited events like this are, im kinda glad they arent as common anymore as its a fairly big thing newer players miss out on. Luckily though, Action Replays weren't the most expensive thing (fragile though), and you could use those to cheat in mystery gifts. And now you've got the Wiimfii DNS services to get you mystery gifts which I think include the Liberty Pass. Did get it legitimately though not long after I got my DSi. I thought it was the coolest thing ever

Yeah, the part about newer players missing out is very true. I didn't get into Pokémon until the 3DS era, so I never got to experience any of the event-exclusive content from Gens III-V. I much prefer how they've been handling Mythicals in the Switch era, where they're typically either relevant to the plot (Arceus, Pecharunt), a save data bonus (Mew, Jirachi, Darkrai, Shaymin), or simply encountered like a standard Legendary (Keldeo, Manaphy, Meloetta). We're now at the point where 14 out of 22 Mythicals can be obtained without limited-time events, so hopefully Victini and the others join that lineup someday.

The two movies mentioned are actually the same, but with a few changes. If my memories recall correctly one movie has zekrom and the other has reshirem as the main legendary (I feel like that was obvious though). I do remember a few other pokemons being different in the the two movies. I think one has golurk and the other a different pokemon, but not entirely sure.

one opens in a desert and one opens in a snowy place. and there's like, a stoutland snow rescue dog. And I'm not sure if I misremember, but one has a shiny golurk and one has a shiny hydreigon, but in the alternate movie the other is not shiny.

This was the only event I managed to get to, partly because they didn't release a lot of events to where I could get to them. I tried to transfer my Victini up to home but it was deleted by Home for being fake. I'm still salty about it.

Connect your DS to an unlocked wifi hotspot. And change the DNS settings to the fan hosted server. Still distributes most if not all events available to your BW1 / BW2 cartridges through mystery gift. Only thing is it pops out events at random so you may have to wait a few mins with some repeats before the liberty ticket pops up.

Best mythical, best event. It’s low level so you can actually use it on a playthrough team! You can also catch it yourself so it feels like it’s actually your own, not just a clone everyone else has. I just love everything about this event and Pokémon. Now I just want to shiny hunt it…… but it’ll never happen unless it’s just a crappy distribution. Except maybe Pokémon GO. That’s probably the only option to get a shiny with your OT (when they eventually release it obv)

I was hyped for this event as a kid. I remember catching Victini and playing through the whole game with him. I was really confused, however, that he couldn't learn V-Create, his signature move, through the event. Like, why hide him through a mystery gift item and make us go through the whole Liberty Island mess and only distribute separate Victinis with V-Create months after we've beaten the game?

I hate that its shiny locked. I remember shiny hunting it when i was like 10 years old when the game came out not knowing that GF added shiny locks to the game. It got so bad i even bought an action replay to force it to be shiny and the whole game would just freeze as soon as i attempted to battle it. Pokemon white will always be my favorite game. Best graphics of all the games released on ds. My personal favorite generation of pokemon because in white unova was the only type of pkmn you could find until after you beat the game and gen 5 pkmns have a distinct feel to them that no other gen has done for me.

This is one of the main reasons I miss the 2D era of Pokémon: The Preprogrammed events. While I agree mystery gift gave us items and Pokémon like it does today, some of the Pokémon and items unlocked really cool events. Like the Meloetta one in Black & White as well as the Zoroark one. Now they just give us a Pokémon and call it a day. I swear the 2D era was the best

I mean, it seems obvious to me that they had this event and promoted the crap out of it to encourage people to buy the new Pokémon games right away … in March. What more reason did they need than that? Keep in mind that Black and White were a massive reboot for the Pokémon franchise, so having a rare and cool mythical Pokémon available as essentially an early-purchase bonus makes a ton of sense. And yes, I was one of those lucky people who took advantage of this event, and Victini went nowhere near my PC box.

I remember wanting to get Victini when Black and White came out, but I couldn't because of 2 reasons. 1. My copy of White was purchased from Ebay and was probably fake, so it probably couldn't access mystery gift to get any events. 2. I didn't exactly know how Mystery Gift worked back then. I didn't even know the DS could connect to the internet until years later, and even if I did, I probably would have thought you had to go to GameStop or something to get it because that's how they usually advertised events. These two reasons are why I wish I knew more about what my DS and games could do back then. That way, I would have missed out on other Mystery Gift events. I did eventually get Victini in other games thanks to different Mystery Gift Events, but they always reminded me of the Liberty Garden Victini I never got.

Oh yeah, huh. See why they had to include the pamphlet with instructions in the case. Cause otherwise, it’s not really self-explanatory. Heck, even in the old games, you’d have to do something obscure in the games to even unlock the option to do Mystery Gift, which I guess goes with the name. I think nowadays, it’s a bit easier, especially with more online resources.

I was one of those kids that had to get the games right when they came out so I got my Liberty Pass Victini too and I still have it. Since I bought both versions I had two for a while that I played through my first runs of Black and White with. Later on we’d get the Movie Event Victini with Zekrom and Reshirams moves so I have that one and one of the original Liberty Pass Victinis, and of course the event ones that came in the generations after.

I remember doing this event. I wasn’t supposed to have white yet, it was for when I was staying in a hospital over my asthma. But I switched the carts without my mom noticing for platinum so I could play early. Last year when I got black I was surprised to find one still on it.

An island called liberty imprisoning a pokemon in a playroom, how ironic (I guess N and Victini have that in common?). I remember cartoon network airing both the movies. They're pretty cute, each having a different intro featuring different settings and pokemon and a different legendary climax. It's cool how they went for 2 movies to go all in on the alternative opposite universes theme similar to truths and ideals, black city and white forest, and the two versions of Opelucid city favoring either the future and past. My favorite part of the movie is the little tournament at the beginning, similar to other movies. Its got a fun little collectable charm gimmick. and Ash's scraggy is so cute! Did some more research and it seems these two movies in japanese even had their own alternative soundtracks (different versions, at least).

The best reason I can think of for why Liberty Garden was event exclusive was because this was what I like to call the "pre Delta mythical era". Before Deoxys was allowed to be in ORAS without needing an event, Mythicals were always locked behind an event. After Deoxys (and the outliers of Sun and Moon) Mythical Pokemon were allowed to be obtained outside of events. It's still usually not easy but but at least there's a way that doesn't involve a limited time event (though there is more of a monetary investment instead, most being either in DLC or needing you to own different mainline games. Mythicals will never not be weird distribution wise).
