The best way to support her is not to sacrifice his own needs or his relationship with her. Just like the dog needs training, people need training too. He needs to let her know that he needs & wants affection at the same time. And she may be surprised and happy to see him take back that power in the relationship and be more of an equal partner. She may find that she enjoys both him and the dog better when they occupy their normal roles in the relationship. do that at the same time as he remains available to offer comfort and support for her grief over being unable to have children. Sometimes when we have a substitute or a crutch like that it, it prolongs the mystery we are using the substitute to comfort ourselves about. In this case it actually takes away from the pleasure of having the dog because it doesn't let the dog be a dog, and at the same time it's me relieve the misery of being childless just enough that she never sits down and says to herself " is it something I can live with and move on from-- perhaps with a little counseling-- or is it something that I want to take some serious action about while I'm still young enough to do so? For example whether or not adoption is right for her the time to consider it is while she's young enough to take her time learning about options and weighing the pros and cons And discussing it with her partner. And if she decides she does then her partner will want to have an opinion too and they will decide whether they want to do that together or they want to solidify their relationship first and so on. If what she has is a baby substitute instead of a pet, and what he has is a roommate instead of a girlfriend or partner. than none of them have the relationship they want.. not the dog, not the partners, and not the future family members if they did choose to adopt...

Did she just say she feeds her dog chocolate? Isn’t that toxic for dogs?
@Kali-zo9wd5 жыл бұрын
I believe that it's is more toxic to dogs in larger quantities. Because if a dog eats a bunch of chocolate it needs it's tummy pumped and or it dies. Little amounts and they are perfectly fine. When I have a bigger box of smarties I give my dogs a couple. Same with any other chocolate bar, they get smaller pieces that a smartie and they are perfectly fine afterwords. My aunties dog, when he was alive would fight you for your chocolate bar and he would not quit until he had what he wanted. He was just a little Pomeranian too, but the chocolate helped him, he had heart problems from his birth (wasn't that great. 3 vets worked on the mom) and when his heart slowed down you could tell and his pills were not working a piece of chocolate and that dog could run miles and look like a normal healthy dog. He went off his one pill and lived like that for more than 5 years.

I think that you guys are confusing a service dog with an in-home-support animal. The difference? One has extensive public access and the other does uses thier (still fairly) extensive training at *home only* . I don't think this particular dog EVER had a chance to be a service dog (his actual temperment isn't a good choice), but a dog like him (even at his age) could DEFINITELY be trained into a great in-home support dog. He has the brains and energy for it. Unlike ESAs, in-home-support dogs still have ALL of the trained tasks required to aid a disabled person in need. Often, these dogs go to the severely immobilized or elderly because they are a generally better fit than a service dog.

There are many ways to create a barrier between the kitchen and the rest of the house. All they had to do was block his access to the kitchen and that problem would be solved immediately. Of course, they would still need to solve the issue of him peeing in the house. But at least their kitchen would’ve been safe.

I Play Gamez this series aired in the UK 2005-2008 and in the US 2008-2012 if I’m not mistaken. Most of these episodes are from the first seasons, so no, they wouldn’t have seen the show. There aren’t many good dog trainers that have had a TV show air on normal TV honestly..let alone actual behaviourists like Victoria. Victoria and Caesar are probably the two that comes to most people’s minds. Now that KZbin is a thing, there are tons of amazing trainers sharing their knowledge, but before the internet, this wasn’t accessible to a lot of people :)
