As an artist let me just say AI art is terrifying fron an economic standpoint, though now ai art is only able to roughly replicate certain styles, in a few years it could replicate almost every artstyle, putting thousands of artists out of jobs, putting years of effort, practice, and talent into the trash can. Another reason why it's terrible is to learn to make art, it needs references, usually stolen. In the cases of ones that replicate anime styles a lot of times you will see a mixed up blob in the corner, from the combined artists pitiful attempts to watermark it so it wont be stolen. AI art is terrifying and I don't think people should be "pro AI art". AI art is not art.

@@inviktus1983I feel like I can… You’re right, except for a crucial detail - an AI bot didn’t decide to create that dataset and start making art. A company took intellectual property without consent, loaded it into a spreadsheet and then created the AI bot specifically to recreate those styles. It was a bold move by them, but ultimately it’s a copyright issue, they took other people’s intellectual property illegally in order to profit from it. In all other aspects however, I agree with you. My mind might change but as of now, I think AI art is procedurally achieved in the same way that human art is.

7:49 I just watched Danny’s video on faking AI, and I thought about this. No. Art is not gathering stuff you saw from other artists and making your own. That’s just straight up not it, that’s a huge oversimplification. If I make art similar to Junji Ito’s style, I can describe my craft as a love for his art and his stories, so I decided to study the style and try it out my own, I gave my own twist to it, and I have an immense respect for him. Or I can say I obsessively analyzed every milimiter of ink that man has ever put to paper, copied his work to be an indistinguishable replica, copy his signature, and claim to be able to replace him. See, if I did that, I would look like a character Junji Ito made. Art made by AI and made by humans is very different in that aspect.

Content generators are purpose built buy and for those exact capitalists which is why we hear so much more of those scummy stories advertising how easy it will be to generate and monetise content rather than people actually using the tech for good like the kinds kurtis mentioned in the video (medicine, infrastructure and the like).

I refer specifically to using AI as a replacement for art like the AI generated artwork in late night with the devil. They could have easily used stock images or even hired an artist but chose to use AI generated images that look awful and stole from several sources
