Don’t know why you guys didn’t think to test paper type but I myself for years have thought and even done an experiment of my own that the knicks envelope was a different card stock weight. No DOUBT you can feel the difference and it doesn’t take much if you practice and you certainly can’t tell from the naked eye. I don’t even think the “bend” is necessary or present but if it was, it could be the double affirmation should he have struggled to find the envelope.

If you're going to attempt to re-create the event, do it exactly. There weren't 7 empty envelopes in the drum. So don't use empty envelopes in your freezer experiment. Put a piece of cardboard inside each one, including the one that sat in the freezer over night.
