When I was younger, all my guitars had .11s. As the years went bye I switched to .10s. Now near 70 I'm switching to .09s. My hands are starting to feel their age. I refuse to give up my guitars yet, so my son will have to wait a little longer to inherit my guitars!

I've recently fallen back in love with a Squier Strat as a friend gifted me an older Japanese made Squier Strat (black Strat yeaaaahh baby!) and boy howdy does it RIP! It can take a beating and stay in tune and, while I may swap out the pups for a set of '57 Fender reissues, the stock ones are totally decent. A really fine guitar, holds its own against my Fender Deluxe Players Strat (MIM, 2005), and my Schecter PT Fastback Special 2 (a T-Deluxe type but with the split coil feature it can sound very "Stratty"). This one in the demo sounds ace! Good stuff, guys. Props for the all-Oz pedalboard. I could probably do one of these myself...

Lots of great playing all over this video guys, great job. Really nice sounding guitar, I could see this being an alternative rock/grunge staple. Re. String gauges, I tend to go with .10s on Fender scale lengths and .11s on Gibsons.

I really like the look and sounds of this Squire. It is very tempting, very. Thanks for sharing it with us. I use different strings on different guitars. For a strat type, I like 9s, but on my tele I use 8s. I do not do any bends at all, it was just that the tele had so much tension that it was hard for me to play with heavier strings. 8s are comfy.

There's been so many P90/single coil guitars but the options of phase cancel and series/parallel give it a bit more worth and these are great pickups. Also I don't go much farther than 10s on most guitars, some can go as high as 11s but it depends on the scale.

String gauge always use 9’s and for the last year swapped to Dunlop as they are so easy to bend without slicing through your fingers.

I like this guitar and usually play with .010s, but as I get older, I'm starting to lean toward .009s, but then it depends on the guitar too. I'd have to try both, and P90s are microphonic, so .010s might be the better bet.

Immense sounds like 👍 this guitar… like you mentioned bit of tweaking could be even better… 7s, 8’s & mostly 9’s are my string gauges really got into the Billy Gibbons feel with lighter strings!👍🙂🎸

Seems a nice guitar and really like the look of the neck looks very playable, got excited thinking the pick ups were P90’s rather then single coils. Got to say they were rather bright felt it needed a bit more depth but think that bright sound is very much the style of the guitar. Nice review as always.

Having gotten past my left hand's HULK SMASH era (I have spastic cerebral palsy), I use GHS Boomers 8s with a 25.5" scale length and 9s with 25" and 24.75" scale lengths (because I cannot find an 8.5 set with sane gauges) to focus on sensitivity and precision.

I don't remember who, but somebody used to sell individual strings. Whatever you wanted. The even packed them in a tube. Not coiled up in an envelope. I wish I could remember who they were. I'll be Sweetwater would know if you're interested.

I'm not the kind of guy who generally wants the newest, latest fads when it comes to guitar- I've pretty much stuck with my Epi LP and CV Strat for years now. But I want this guitar really badly- I knew the second it was announced I had to try one out- I love P90s in an S style guitar. That said- I am about to turn my HSS Affinity Strat into an SSS- I could just stick some P90s in it and call it a day. But then I'll still want the SSS Strat as well so- hmmm, decisions. The band I play with convers a lot of Floyd and having a single coil at the bridge position would make it sound more authentic. We play a lot of classic rock in general so- it would help with a lot of stuff we do probably. The crowd doesn't care though- they won't even notice I've changed it- watch.

My red Stratosonic has become my favorite guitar. Just had to replace the rattling tuners. 😂 Put 10s on it. Also had to plumber tape the bridge posts. Great guitar after a good setup and some hardware tweaks. The factory tuners are seriously trash, poor ratio and the heads can be loose and rattle. That rattling comes through the amp when playing. Also look for it on sale. Got mine for $380 USD. Also, newer versions will not have the Epiphone bridge so if you want an original Stratosonic get one now.
