The Game-Changing Update KSP2 NEEDS to Thrive

Kerbal Space Program 2 is about to get a game-changing update that will bring new excitement and life to the game For Science! The first major update for Kerbal Space Program 2 is coming next Tuesday 19/12/2023.
In this video I'll go over the developer updates, posts and sneak peaks we've seen so far and say why you should be excited for this to arrive. I know I am from all that I've seen.

Personally I'd like a historical progression. Not as harsh as RO, but things like planes before rockets. I assume that'll emerge as a mod quickly enough

It could be fun starting with a first jet engines from ww2 or even propeller engines. Maybe some simple missions to learn the basic, earn some money and few science points to unlock rocket engines.

One thing I have been wondering is if vapor is making a comeback. The effect is about the same as re-entry heating and I always thought it was super cool to see in the first game.

There's zero point in getting excited preemptively. We won't know how it actually performs and plays until it's actually on our computers.

Im hoping the core problems that were holding the roadmap up are done. If they are im hoping we start seeing a roadmap goal completed every couple of months

i have currently 0 mins played in ksp2, i preordered it before i was concious of the fact how technically deficiant it was at the time, what i was aware of that they wont put priority on science or even career mode, which felt wrong to me...science is the absolute core of any ksp game. without something to progress on there is no game. i never understood the motivation to play sandbox. i might actually install it on tuesday to see if there is enough of a game in in yet. before i put serious hours into it i will have to wait on full conversion mods like rp1 anyway btw: i played triple digits in hours in rp1....i played in all those years maybe 2h of vanilla ksp1, i dont expect vanilla ksp2 to give me much, what i am looking for is a decent modding basis

Got to rely on the modding community for that I guess, oh and obviously need a good framework for mods to work off, currently the built in one isn’t available but that’s not stopped people! Quite a few parts mods already on the way although I think there hasn’t been any real progress with planet mods or the like yet, definitely interested in seeing if this update kick starts that again

@@IvanRodriguez-tl2zr i don't think I really did. Ksp 1 was a flawed game as well, but it did have a blessed modding community. And I didn't actually my experience was atypical. Mods is what made ksp1 great. Without them ksp1 feels naked. Unfinished. To this day

Honestly the biggest thing this game needs is the wobble fix and reentry effects and atmospheric heating - for the life of me I cannot understand why these were not in the Day 0 release though I will never understand

Played ksp2 yesterday spent over 4 hours trying to rendezvous 2 vehicles in orbit . Craft just decide to spin however they like wether sas is on or off its just weird bcos getting the craft to orbits there was no problems. Hard work no result

Yeah my experience with docking has been a bit of a painful one, sas seems pretty messy at the moment, craft always trying to fire off rcs to correct themselves but just making things worse

Suggestion: Make it so you have to visit and/or interact with every celestial body in the Kerbin system before unlocking a new science tier, and every celestial body in the Kerbol system before being able to unlock the following science tier | And/or make it so you have to complete a certain goal before being able to unlock a certain tech tier or node

My pretty powerful laptop runs multiple games including ksp1 on high graphics with lots of mods very smoothly, yet when i play ksp2 on the lowest preset settings its running on 10 fps max

To be honest no matter how much KSP 2 improves I'll be sticking to the original, I already have it and the computer I have struggles to run it decently with as many mods as I use, there is simply no way KSP could have any hope of being an improvement in any regard for me.

The biggest issue KSP2 has is price they are asking an insane price it isn't a AAA game never will be yet that's were they are going the launch price is $10 less than Hogwarts legacy and they made it know they intend to increase it

One really weird bug that I hope got addressed: KSP2 writes a lot to the Windows Registry.... for no known purpose. Maybe it's part of the telemetry that it sends back to Intercept, but that's a horrible way to do that. Plus, eventually the HKEY involved with storing all that data gets SO BLOATED that your ENTIRE SYSTEM slows down, even when KSP hasn't even been started since you rebooted. Delete that HKEY in your registry, nothing happens to KSP, you don't lose any data in or out of game, and performance in and out of game is restored. Like.... ???? What the heck is going on there? I don't get why you even write to the registry as a scratchpad, that is QUITE LITERALLY NOT WHAT THAT IS FOR.

That got fixed a while ago....

This was fixed in Hotfix v0.1.4.1.0 back in September - a few days after the issue was originally identified. The fix not only stops it from happening, but also removes any extraneous entries that may have been left there previously. Hope that helps.
