I'll point out that there was no negotiation of a settlement between Ohio and Michigan. Ohio demanded Toledo and got it because they were already a state and had votes in congress. Once we go to a 12 team playoff format...this rivalry is decreased, by a lot. UM has 3 rivals: MSU, Ohio, and Notre Dame. Back when we played ND all the time and often beating Ohio....ND was the often the hated team. Not Ohio. Hard to believe I know....but it was. Ohio has no comparable rival except for UM. Nice to have watched this rivalry for so long. But the game is going to change.

Ohio State appears to be playing their best football and Michigan has a lot of questions. No head coach, questionable health of offensive line and q.b. and now harbough labels them America s team and it's them against everyone? The kids didn't sign up for this so why did harbough have to put it on them too? It's hard enough to win a national championship without unnecessary obstacles. After 5 years of excruciating defeats by Ohio State and Big Ten rivals, harbough has found another way to derail this team. It's hard to imagine with everything going against Michigan at the moment that OSU is going to lose 3 in a row against them. JJ is so much better than McCord. I say we go with the Shaq principle used by the Pistons that year in the Finals, Marvin Harrison is going to get his big catches and scores, so let's prepare for it, accept it, bank on it, and not freak out when it happens because it will. However, let's limit everyone else. Let's get to the QB and make him play nervous. Michigan looks way stronger in the trenches and overall. Let's play to our physical nature because OSU looks soft, really, it's unreal to write, but they look soft. We have to be careful of receivers not named 'Harrison" cuz there are a bunch of great ones over there. And make Ryan Day pay for his BS. Let the Michigan players play their best game and overcome this unjust suspension.

We can limit Harrison and Contain Henderson. They’ll get some yards, but we can get some stops. We can also pressure McCord and hopefully rattle him enough to cause some bad throws. The key will be our offense. We need to stay on schedule, stay within a score and trust the physicality of our lines to wear them down, just as they have for two years running.

@@rollandgkerr Hilarious. JJ is battle tested and poised. McCord is a scared kitten right now, wholly dependent on short, scripted plays that don’t allow him to screw up. He’s a good kid but he’s in way over his head, and Ryan Day knows it. Look for a lot of Treveon and and Dallan early on, with some play action attempts to Harry and Stover. I’d expect the game plan for Michigan is much like it has been over the past two years; stay within a score and wear down the Ohio State lines and Ryan Day’s nerves, all three of which are finesse and fragile. Last year you got blown out in Columbus with CJ Stroud and without Blake Corum on the field. Your defense is better, but so is our offense. Michigan by 10-13.

And Steven I remember you saying you didn't even want to watch the 2021 OSU game because it was going to be too painful to watch. Harbough had put us through about 5 years of torment. I didn't want to watch it either. In fact I about swore off Michigan football as long as he was coaching. It was just too painful to watch. Fans were screaming for him to resign. Well 2 playoff losses and a team that seemed on cruise control much of the season and now has more to deal with then they might handle, makes me again question what is going on with this coach. Why does he get suspended for half a season? Why is there always some kind of controversy with him, which ends up taking away from what the kids are doing on the field. At some point you have to say enough is enough. Is all this worth it?

I like how Steve brings up that if Ohio State had lost to Maryland in 2018, Michigan would have gone to the big ten championship game as if that never happens in this rivalry. Ohio State would have made the big ten championship game in 2013, 2014, 2017, 2019, and 2020 despite a loss to Michigan. 2015 didn’t matter because of Michigan State unless MSU lost to Penn State on that last week which the they didn’t (they won by 39). So the only years that had big ten championship implications were 2016, 2018 and the last two years.
