I know most of you who subscribe to this channel probably don't need this type of guide content, but I still think it's really important. Even if it doesn't perform well, I feel like a lot of the people who DO see it might be on the verge of giving up..so I make it for them, in the hopes that they might keep at it, and eventually understand why these games are so great. Also, a lot of people still haven't experienced Demon's Souls..and it really does have a lot of quirks that even veterans might not understand. Don't even get me started on Character Tendency... Share this with anyone who you think could stand to learn something!

Fun fact: if you have killed the red dragon by using a TON arrows on world 1-2, you can also give the 2nd blacksmith THAT soul instead of Flamelurker’s soul to make boss weapons.

Honestly if you're a souls veteran, playing pure black is probably the only thing that will challenge you besides the occasional death from falling off a ledge.

@@taragnor I do not consider myself good at these games, I just enjoy them. I was never able to beat Bloodborne. I'd probably struggle with Demon Souls too, despite it being the first and technically easiest of the bunch

Assuming they haven't changed it, opportunities to shift World Tendency toward White are few and far between. Competence has less to do with it than you might think. Keep in mind that World Tendency is tracked for each individual area. So, for example, killing a boss in Stonefang won't affect WT in Latria.

@sgt dornan Scalping only works because people are desperate with too much money, or desperate with no choice (if said scalping is happening to food). Scalping is probably the first thing that happened when the concept of barter was invented, and it's the most unstoppable scummy exchange tactic that is literally unpreventable regardless of economic system.

i liked tendency, you start off not paying it attention, then you get to a point where you notice the effects and try to get pure white on all zones, then you get ready for pure black, its a nice piece of replayability, i would always start a new class and aim for a different world tendency just to see if it was harder

For the soul farming bit, I find that in 4-2, using Flame sorceries is the easiest way to kill the Reaper. Just peek over the edge behind him, which is _just_ close enough to lock on, and he'll go down in a few Flame Toss hits (you might need Fireball as you go through NG cycles). Alternatively, put Turpentine on your weapon or have it on the Dragon upgrade path, fall on him for stagger, and go to town. Because you have to spend some time walking over to the ledge behind him, usually killing the apparitions on the stone walkways, he'll end up spawning extra apparitions, so more souls.

I went with a standard knight build for 2-1 and 4-1. After starting 3-1 I realized a magic archer build was the most efficient for me. I was able to defeat Man Eater in about 6 tries. Great vid for beginners like me!

8:40 some enemies have very specific weaknesses in demon's souls as well. if you use the mail breaker's R2 it can stun lock the mind flayers in the tower of latria until your stamina runs out (even an unupgraded one is enough to kill them if your stamina is full)

A huge tip that's probably too late for anyone to see: Do NOT make your world tendency for 4-1 Pure Black, an npc phantom shows up on spawn that will literally murk low level players in a single hit until you can parry him to death (harder than it sounds). Just do yourself a favor and don't deal with him until you're ready.

I actually recommend black tendency first if at all possible. If you can get every area to pure black before killing the first boss you can get the level back to pure white and set up for total pure white in NG+ making the substantially harder NG+ quite a bit easier, plus with all pure black collectibles obtained you never need to go back.

I've been noticing and enjoying that Demon Souls gives you a lot more unique, awesome armor early. In DS and BB it took a little while before I found an outfit I loved. I guess that makes up for the item load system. I used to love having all my armor on me, so I could Fashion Souls on the go. But I'm trying not to complain about the different features and enjoy the difference in challenge that they create

Side note about de-leveling - If you lose a level by the methods mentioned in the video you'll lose the stat highest relative to your character's starting stat EXCEPT for Vitality, which can never go down. This is helpful if you're leveling up Magic to be able to get spells from Freke but don't want to keep the stat requirement after obtaining the spells (Yuria will swap spells for you regardless of your Magic stat). It's hardcore min/maxing stuff but if you're a Souls player you're probably into that kind of torture.
