I own quite a few guns since getting back into air gunning about 12 years ago, so it all depends what mood I am in. My latest purchase is a BSA R10 Mk2 which is Ratworks tuned. A lovely rifle to shoot. I also like my Brocock Concepts and Falcon Prairie, all three are really accurate. My .22 Air Arms S2OO is another very accurate rifle, as is my Webley Litew8. All apart from my Falcon, Hatsan Gladius and Hatsan Galatian have all been regulated by myself. If i want to have some fun i shoot the Hatsan Gladius and Hatsan Galatian. I intend regulating the others eventully. I also have an AGS VMX springer which i have tuned and a Gamo Whisper IGT, plus about six air pistols. There are quite a few more that i wouldn't mind buying, but my wife would probably hit me over the head with it if i bought another one. I have to use reverse psychology everytime i buy one, so it does take some timing. Happy shooting. The Gamo springer range will all soon be available as 10 shot multi shots under the banner Swarm 10X for all the different models of springers, so things are changing.

I have a Gamo phox in kit form so comes with the stirrup pump. The rifle is about 100 bar and when I try pump the air into the rifle it only seems to be pressurising the hose of the pump and no air getting into the rifle. The connector is pushed in fully into the rifle. The gauge on the rifle and pump differ. Don’t want to force it but defiantly no air getting into the rifle. Any ideas?
@airgunsniper-elite7385 Жыл бұрын
Can you hear air escaping at the inlet valve? If so you could change the 0-rings in the fill probe. If not you may have reached the point where the pump isn't powerful enough per stroke to get the air in. A quick squirt from an air tank would do it. With air styrup pumps it's best to not let the air get too low. They are great for topping up, but cannot usually fill from empty. I found this out when my Fathering law couldn't fill his Falcon, because he had let the pressure drop too much. Using my air-tank to get it started soled the problem. You've probably done this, but make sure that your bleed valve is closed and also cock the rifle. Some-times when the pressure drops bellow a certain point the hammer spring tension is enough for the hammer to push the valve open, so it won't fill. By clicking the rifle the valve will stay shut and it should fill. I would top it up from 150 bar, its less effort as well. Let me know how you get on. Best Wishes Mark.
@amillett6863 Жыл бұрын
@@airgunsniper-elite7385 thanks for the reply Mark. The rifle is about 18 months old and brought with the pump and both have had very little use. I only purchased to despatch rats in the garden and only used the pump maybe 3 times and then stored away for 9 months. Got it out to use Ann wanted to top pressure up from 100 bar as I know it’s hard to do so when low. No air leaking from inlet valve or anywhere else and bleed valve is closed & pump is full of pressurised air when I open bleed valve again to remove from rifle. It seems only the hose of the pump is pressurising. And yes I have tried cocking the rifle.

The shooting with both eyes open is what i picked up from 12 years in the Army. You will find the latest Gamo PCPs very good. They are basically BSA rifles and have good barrels to match. The Nova's do look nice rifles. Go Dive at Spondon near Derby did have some the last time i looked. You could also try places like Pellpax who will deliver to your door, as that counts as face to face. Pellpax isn't the only home delivered airgun supplier though. Whichever you go for good luck and happy shooting. The new Gamo Phox rifles are improved and built in Birmingham and have removable silencers, unlike the earlier one that i was shooting in the video.

I don’t like the action of the bolt, bit stiff to,pull back, got mine in kit form , gun bag had bad stitching round seam 2 splits , styrup pump has no water trap , so moisture entering gun won’t do it much good , that’s if you have the strength to use the crap thing , but generally the gun is fairly accurate and I’m glad I bought it , cheers shane uk 🇬🇧 mine is .177
@airgunsniper-elite73854 жыл бұрын
I expect the bolt will loosen up after you've used it for a few hundred shots. You could try a drop of oil on it. As for the styrup pumps, I wouldn't use one without a filter. You can buy add on filters that will fit between the pump and your fill line. It will add extra length, but help reduce moisture into your airgun cylinder. I got a decent one for my Chinese compressor as an extra add on for just over £20. It includes a cotton filter and better still charcoal to reduce and soak up anything that gets past the cotton filter. It's called an air mega filter.

Great video, very useful. I have this rifle and could I ask you to provide more info about the bipod and how it is fitted? My Phox doesn't have a hole in the stock and I can't see how to fit one without drilling it.
@airgunsniper-elite73856 жыл бұрын
Hello. This rifle belongs to Dave Oldham. The best way to make your rifle suitable for fitting a bipod or sling would be to go to your local gunshop, or ebay and buy a QD Stud. These screw into the stock and allow you to fit a bipod, sling, or both. To do this you will need to take the stock off first. Work out where you want your bipod to fit, then measure the centre of the stock from each side of the rifle. Use some masking tape to stick on the stock and mark the centre of the stock on the masking tape with a pen or pencil, then drill a pilot hole of around 3 or 4 mm to a depth the size of the screw of the QD stud. You can then screw in the QD stud until if is flush with the stock. By making a pilot hole first it stops the stock from cracking. You can use either an alen key or drill bit through the hole in the QD stud for leverage when screwing it in. Once it is in you can attach a bipid or sling or both. If you intend fitting a sling, you would also need to pre drill a hole in the butt of the rifle using the same method. If you are unhappy with doing this yourself, most good gun shops will do it for you, either for free, or for a small charge. Hope that helps.

Perfect, thank you.

Can I ask.how fitted a bipod please. Great video
@airgunsniper-elite73854 жыл бұрын
This was Dave Oldham's rifle. He would have screwed on a QD stud or picitinny rail. QD studs are inexpensive and easy enough to fit. Measure the center of the stock after removing it from the rifle. Put some masking tape on the point where the stud will go and drill a pilot hole. Screw the stud in and fit your bipod. For picatinny rail just measure the center and follow the same process for the two screws, then fit the bipod.

Hello Lee, yes, the scope on the rifle was included. It is a gamo duplex scope rather than a mil dot scope which is designed to get you up and running right away, although as mentioned in the video a mil dot scope would be a better option. A great little rifle. If you visit your local dealer i am sure they could update the scope package for you if you asked them to. You can buy this rifle as a full rifle package with everything required to start shooting a PCP rifle, or you can buy them as a rifle only.

Does it matter if you use the magnifying zoom when zeroing in a scope? Or do you zero at the lowest magnify
@SHEAKTHEILLEST7 жыл бұрын
Which pellets did you find worked the best and got the most accurate results? Got my Gamo Phox coming in a week or so
@wibble19996 жыл бұрын
it does make a difference quite definitely as the mildots are used to guage holdover and under if shooting at a range other than that you zero or sighted at. for example if your target is at 25 yds and your crosshairs are on the bullseye you are all set..... but if you shoot at 35 yds youre pellet will strike low as over the extra distance the weight will pull down. that may mean you need to put your crosshairs on scope a little higher. so then when it drops you will hit target straight on. mildots are used to guage how high to aim at 35 40 45 etc etc. on a standard scope the mildot spacing will change at different magnification. so it does matter most definitely
@airgunsniper-elite73856 жыл бұрын
Like DaveMac says once you zero your scope at a set magnification, it changes the point of impact if you alter the magnification. The only scope that you can use to truly keep the zero when adjusting the magnification are the scopes in the first focul plain. On these the reticle adjusts as you zoom in or out, but they are probably at least £100 than a second focal plain scope. I was watching a youtube video by airgun depot the other week when he said that if you zero in on full magnification that it isn't effected so much coming down the power, but I haven't tried that yet. Probably do a test video on that to see what happens.
@airgunsniper-elite73856 жыл бұрын
As you can see in this test. The best three pellets were: Kaiser Rangemaster 14.66 grain - Daystate Rangemaster Sovereign 15.9 grain and JSB Exact Jumbo Heavy at 18.13 grain. The best way is to make your own tests, but from what I have seen the barrel isn't pellet fussy, as it is made by BSA cold hammer forge technique. Any JSB and probably Falcon accuracy plus and H&N Field target trophy should do well. The RWS Superfield were the only odd one out that didn't do well.
@captainsalty15266 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. As Davemac said, (but in other words) depends on if you have a first or second focal plane scope and if you are using hold overs with a mil/mrad or MOA ret then it does matter. If you are just zeroing at one distance and only using the center of the crosshair OR you are using a first focal plane scope then the zoom will not affect you. If you are using a second focal plane scope and using a hold over it will effect you. Look up first and second focal plane scopes and it'll explain what I mean better.

Mine came with a removable cylindrical screw silencer that looks nothing like a gamo silencer so it seems they fixed the problem. Also the bag is not big enough to hold the gun when a scope is fitted and my old bag is even smaller, so be aware of this, very good gun though.

They are available from most gun shops, or can be ordered and delivered to your nearest dealer. Not sure if you are from the UK or not. Some places deliver to you door as well. Pellpax and Dai Leisure will deliver to your door, just google them. Others such as Ronnie Sunshines, The Airgun Centre can be ordered online and delivered to your nearest firearms dealer. It all depends where you live in the UK. The good one with this is it can be purchased as a kit. In the UK its known as the Gamo Phox and in the US the Gamo Urban. You can also consider the Gamo GX40, which is a newer Gamo and built entirely at the BSA factory in Birmingham, although both are built with the BSA Cold hammer forged barrels and compare to the BSA Ultra and Scorpion. Great value and great little rifles either as a starter, or as an extra rifle. The original Gamo Phox came in .22 only, but I think you can now get them in .177. They also come with 1/2 inch UNF x20 thread for silencer of your choice i believe.
