How was the response when you showed the Moving Forward film to your community? Was there any community building organizations or actions that followed? That seems to be the biggest challenge. Lots of good organizations out there but no really system changing in vision or practice. I'm hopeful with Peter's next Zeitgeist film, Requiem, coming out in March of this year, that it will follow with a strategic talk by Peter about how we can actually get a better society by how we create a parallel system of contribution to our community, building prosperity and abundance for all, so we can get away from corporate crapfest!

I was searching for the truth when I first saw it, I found it at the time interesting, but was caught up as a Fundamental Christian. Now years after I left that echo chamber, I find myself an atheist, albeit a different type of atheist. Now I see the conflict is between the gods of the Bible vs their own Father, the high god of the pagans. They did not want him to be their king, so they rebelled against him and wanted to divide the earth between themselves. To keep the Duality of the Cosmos. To be the highest god in each universe. It is interesting to see the influence of religion in this world we are in, all of them have been corrupted, some more than others, all need a massive reform to return to the Source. Religious people will always be with us, just look at Babylon 5 as inspiration. Even the Bible shows hints that the world to come is a pluralistic society. In evolution there are both positive and negative mutations, and of course neutral mutations that are neither good or bad. In some cases a positive mutation can be a negative benefit that stifles the survival of the organism, and some negative mutations can increase the survival of the organisms survival. So it is not a black and white matter. To be more on point with your comment. Zeitgeist the movie was certainly a seed sown in me to break free from the stranglehold of religion. I'm grateful for that. :) And yes, we need to stand with Gaza and the Palestinian people and do all in our power to preserve them as a people.

Many of them that exist today might be totally unsalvageable with the tools and tactics we have access to today, but that doesn't mean we should write them off and give up at trying to save even them. The fact that "The West" looks more civilized to a Westerner's eyes, is just your familiarity producing confirmation bias in your mind (to some imperfect degree). I am like you in I find religions reflexively repulsive and harmful, but I also have this sort of model of a more objective, tolerant version of myself, that observes the world in parallel with my primary, worldly personality. The duality of surviving in a threatening world, and yet also knowing what is possible in an ideal world, and an ideal blank-slate human being. We're all derivative of every prior (damaging) experience, but I just ask you to try and develop this "model observer" in yourself. It'll help you in advocating for the enlightened ideals that PJ has shined a light on so eloquently and artfully.

Peter's 2007 documentary had me research Islam as a non-practicing Muslim with little knowledge of the religion, and indeed it left me confused (the danger of lack of knowledge and misinformation). After research, I'm grateful to be a practicing Muslim but I have to thank Peter for helping me through forcing me to look into religion. Though we disagree on that topic, I also thank Peter for being on the right side of history with this oppresZ1on taking place - and of course Abby with her wonderful work and integrity throughout the years.

​@@danbauer3669 oh okay, I see what you are saying. Yeah that's not anything that Peter really talks about for probably a good 10+ years now in his recent stuff. I agree, nothing close to the Venus Project is going to happen until we system change out of capitalism quite significantly. Peter's more recent works shows he's focused on community-level system change that can be collaborative across willing communities. Not starting a brand new circular city or anything. He did a talk called "A Viable Society" on TZMOfficialChannel that I think sums it up quite well and his book The New Human Rights Movement has a 5 great economic transitions part (also online as a video if you want to see) is the pillars of the new direction people can take. In addition, not related to TZM, but inspired by the late great Buckminster Fuller who said “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete" - is a community-building model called One Small Town Contributionism with Michael Tellinger. I just found out about it like a year ago, and it's been very interesting to see the development of it.

I always like to hear what Peter has to say about different things, he is a well thought out person whose ideas are very real and DOABLE solutions to our massive problems-if only leadership around the world, but here in America in particular, would listen and stop taking every worst and most expensive half-steps that serve ONLY to make everything much worse!
