She is the first female singer I’ve ever seen who has 0% sexy shit in their clothes. I genuinely feel some of the most powerful women who have their own inner strength get attacked by horrible men because to take down a strong woman is an extra trophy/prize to them. Sounds like the Gits recording made the the X-Ray Cafe in Portland. There are two Gits CDs that have all of the X-Ray recordings (notated only as recorded in Portland) on them. The Gits played there on the tail end of their last tour. Zia was murdered just few days later. The Gits guitar player acquired the original masters from me a couple years later. He did a great job of mastering and they sound great. IMO, the X-Ray Cafe recordings were the best recordings ever made of the Gits. Being at the end of the tour, the band was ready to rock and they played loose and free.

I was there at the X-Ray show. Mia was a good personal friend of mine, so that show has a great deal of meaning for me in the memories of my life. i was devastated when she died. Just a great tragic loss of someone who was not only hugely talented, but also a very gentle, sweet person. I often cry when I listen to their music now. I still remember visiting Mia at Antioch College before the Gits ever got together and sitting in her room listening to her playing a version of Iggy Pop's "The Passenger" and thinking even then that she had something special.
