The albums are all connected, but it's not quite so much a fictional universe as it is pure poetry from the mind and soul of Stu McKenzie. Like a mythos. Nonagon Infinity opens the door.

@kevinwillems8720 Жыл бұрын
I think somewhere in the middle. They have albums that are clearly connected (nonagon and murder of the universe) and leave breadcrumbs in any album after those do you could connect them all if you wanted.
@Ason8146 жыл бұрын
Nice finally some video about this. Like you said, the band has literally said this themselves and after the release of MOTU noone can deny connections between the albums to some extent. About Nonagon Infinity: I actually had similar thoughts about the whole album back at the beginning of 2017 when I first listened to it. It seems to fit in with the general theme that Gizzard brings up: The humans trying to go "beyond" humanity, altering themselves and fucking everything up in the process. Hints the meaning of the lyrics of Hot Water and that motif appearing in Robot Stop

The interview where Eric says that all the albums are connected and that they knew what the first and last album was going to be before starting as a band is just a piss take, well, I think Eric was just talking shit. The interview was right around the same time all the Gizzverse theories really started to explode with the release of MOTU. So I think the boys, with their sense of humour, just went with all the theories that were being spun around. They all have a pretty dark sense of humour, look at some of the photos/postcards that came with the Willoughby's Beach 10". "I'll suck your dick for money!!!" was written on one of the photo's by Lucus if I'm not mistaken. Classic. STU on the other hand, seems to be a more legit source in confirming the Gizzverse. Ultimately I think the Gizzverse is real, and it has many different interpretations, which I think is awesome. So really the Gizzverse is in the mind of the beholder, if that makes sense hahah
@motioninart6 жыл бұрын
Haha maybe. I think Eric may have been having a laugh and maybe predicting the future of what album they are going to finish on could be a bit of a stretch but the point of using that interview clip is just to emphasise that they do have some sort of plan between the albums and an idea on how to finish. I think yes Stu being pretty much the main architect behind all the lyrics relating to the Gizzverse is more serious about how it’s all connected and he’s interview soundbite is more testament to that. And like you said ultimately it’s not even about denial by now but rather learning to accept and trying to best put the pieces out forward by the band and Jason. As well as just simply enjoying the great visual art and lyrics/music that’s on display. Thanks for the comment though! :)

This is a fantastic dissection of the themes and elements throughout Nonagon. I've honestly never been personally too concerned with whether or not there is a true "Gizzverse," but seeing it lain out with such detailed analysis, I may now be of a different mind. I can't wait for the next video. Keep it up, mate!
@motioninart6 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! I think a lot of fans can be somewhat put off or don’t even really care if there’s a Gizzverse and just like the music, which is completely fair. Hopefully this doesn’t necessarily convert nonbelievers, but continues to expand the appreciation all fans would have for the band, in not only for their great lyricism but also with their visual storytelling created mainly by Jason :)

To think that Nonagon Infinity is some black magic shit, like it’s about spiritual enlightenment and immortality, to know that our soul is immortal and transforms infinitely through time and space, but at the same time it exists within this dark matter as well, we are equally good as we are evil, or that our consciousness is like within a battle of light and darkness for eternity, mind blowing work, King gizzard’s work will be studied for decades trust me, these guys are true artists and they have a lot of fun doing it at the same time

@motioninart6 жыл бұрын
I didn’t want to bring it up specifically (even though I was aware for it) for a couple of reasons. Mainly that it might be confusing or detract from my overall point about what I thought people vultures was about but yes the masked figure with red lines is credited in the video as the Invisible Face man. Exactly what’s his role in the video would just be more theoretical conjecture without much proof but it is definitely a nod to the song from the album. And the han-tyumi reference I tackle in Volume 2 where I give a whole video to because I believe he’s the most central character to the Gizzverse understanding. But thanks for watch and great pickup :)

My theroy..... As far as "Nonagon Infinity" is concerned, each of the nine songs represent nine different events in nine different alternate Universes. The door opens when each of these events occur at the same time. So if you play all nine songs at the same time, your mind will fuzz and your Universe will be murdered.

I like the small details like; -the people vulture was attacked by the fig wasp on his throat like the lyrics (there’s a hornet in my throat) -Wah Wah when they perform the drinking fluid ritual, it’s another failed attempt that led to the universe throwing up like M.O.T.U. -Robot Stop talks about a slave doing the same repetitive work over and over under the influence of a superior influence (Han-Tyumi). More on that with Tetrachromacy, Searching, Fourth Colour, and All is Known.

Regarding the People Vultures video: All three of the characters fought are references to songs on the album. There’s the Big Fig Wasp, like you pointed out, but then there’s also a robot (Robot Stop) and the man with red lines on his face, who’s aesthetically similar to the “invisible face” in the music video for... well, Invisible Face.

@@motioninart Nothing really, it all works out. I like this theory, it's just that some King Gizz albums are what John Lennon called "two bits of concept". Like Rat's Nest. It has the concept of escaping a dying Earth by going to space, but it goes in different directions (Mars For The Rich, the Venusian series, and Perihelion and Self-Immolate). Also, self-immolation itself refers to being set on fire, not just any suicide for political or religious reasons. Those are the only two problems I noticed, and they're both tiny.

Hickory McCay I think this makes sense because the album has two sides (b side is the journey to hell with Venusian etc).

Love these guys but if you think it's more than occult references renamed then you're overthinking it. I definitely get why it's interesting but I feel like it kind of takes away from their originality after I realized how much occult is in their stuff and kind of just put out as something else BUT they're suuuper talented. Amazing stuff.

The story these guys are trying to tell is the same as the story in Dark Souls man I swear I just don't know how to explain it lol

Haha I’d be curious to hear what you have to say

@@motioninart I still can't explain, or don't want to put in the effort. But like the cyclical nature of the universe and whatnot. It's better said that they are sharing a lot of themes. Loss of humanity for example is huge.
