the fact that the bride said “i know i’m not the most beautiful…” is a red flag of emotional abuse. “i didn’t think i was good enough for you, but you graced me with your presence…” basically. very sad

I wouldn’t say it’s emotional abuse but more low self esteem. And I was with a person before like that and no matter how much I said she was beautiful or supported her in that realm, she felt she wasn’t “physically beautiful.” As far as his vows to her? Yikes. I had a friend whose boyfriend used to joke about pushing her down the stairs and kicking or punching her in the stomach if she ever got pregnant. He also used to talk openly about their sex life and joke about how his little brother would wait and watch from the closet while they did it. He made so many horrible comments about her and her body in front of her, her friends, and his friends. It was incredibly clear that these kinds of jokes and conversations made her deeply uncomfortable, but she never said anything. She would just smile and playfully roll her eyes at him. She changed so much about herself to make herself palatable for him. They’re still together 3 years later and I feel fairly certain this is the BOY she’ll settle for and end up with. It’s so sad watching such a smart, funny, beautiful young woman grow to believe she deserves that kind of treatment. I think it speaks to a larger issue of how we condition people socialized as women to interact with people socialized as men. They’re allowed to treat us any way they please and we must smile and shut up about it.

When I matured and actually developed self-esteem, I stopped being like that and dated people that respected me. The tik toks that the bride posted were facts; yes you do know your relationship better than anyone and yes if you’re happy and love each other then great your relationship is not gonna be the same as the next couple. But the way she is in denial about the fact that your husband chose to have vows that sexually objectified you as well as a described you as a personal chef was just so degrading to himself, herself, their family, and their relationship. You can be funny in your wedding vows without degrading someone and that’s what she seems to not understand. Describing someone only as a person who is there to sexually please you just takes away your humanity and empathy as a human and her saying that that’s what she wanted… she deserves SO much better.

she has to smile and laugh it off, because she chose this man, y’know? people will put themselves through so much to not have to admit they were wrong or made a poor decision. there was such a difference in the vows not just in the obvious ways, but in hers she put herself down and thanked him for even being with her, and in his he was like “since you’re so good at making decisions: like marrying me”, you can tell the dynamic between them is totally imbalanced. btw *Alayna jo* dropping bombs on insta with “Do you think he would interact with Margot Robbie in the same way?” ‘Nuff said!

I also thought that. That sometimes people feel more shame because they let other walk over them, and they choose to stay, while everyone laughed or critiqued the choice. Unsolicited haircare advice: It may be worthwhile to look into whether you actually have dandruff, or just a dry scalp. Dandruff is a fungus that makes your scalp flaky, and the shampoos and hair products for treating it dry your scalp out as a consequence of killing the fungus. If your scalp is just flaking because its dry, dandruff treatments only make the problem worse because they're making your scalp even drier, and thus, flakier. The ouroboros of trying to treat a dry scalp with drying dandruff shampoo is what keeps Head&Shoulders in business. I have a scalp that loves being dry and flaky, and hair products geared towards moisturizing and hydrating my hair and scalp are what help me. I am not a dermatologist or haircare expert, but if you have the means to consult with either of those, it may help.
