Doyle Bramhall II was born in Texas, and lived half of his life in Northern California. His father,Doyle Bramhall, Sr., played drums for legendary bluesmen Lightnin' Hopkins and Freddie King and was a lifelong collaborator with childhood friends Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimmie Vaughan.

Doyle Sr and Jimmie Vaughan started early in Dallas Texas in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas before moving to Austin Texas in the late sixties. I was also privileged to have seen Sam Lightning Hopkins in Dallas in September 77 near the end of his journey. I believe Doyle II is one of the top players today as is former band mate Derek Trucks and he and and Charlie Sexton front a great band together called The Arc Angels that has one half of SRVs Double Trouble Chris Layton on drums. If you ever get a chance to see them do because they are red hot.

I've loved and adored Eric Clapton for as long as I can remember. When our own Texas Doyle Bramhall Jr hooked up with Slowhand himself I was thrilled! He's very unique and talented and loved him with Arc Angels. One very lucky guy is he but worthy!

what I love about Eric, and Doyle for that matter, is that they don't compete for the "best lead", they just step up because they are together and want to give it all when they let it rip!

In 1968 Eric Clapton recorded a fabulous version of Crossroads with Cream (Wheels of Fire album). Since then he's revived the song with a lot of different groups, and all these later versions are dummied-down and lifeless, just like this one.
@mikekopmanis2099 Жыл бұрын
I really think Clapton's chips are not there to play it "right" anymore. Sad because it's really not that hard and the original version is so incredible. Check out Chelsea Constable covering it, or Eddie Van Halen doing it live.
