Which Ethiopian king or what time period are you talking about?
@anthonychaffeemd
@anthonychaffeemd Жыл бұрын
@@mjordan5382 So that was by Herodotus in 430 BC, and I believe he wrote that down from personal observation. You can find it by looking up Herodotus and his work, especially with the below excerpt from it. "Last of all he came to the wine, and having learnt their way of making it, he drank a draught, which greatly delighted him; whereupon he asked what the Persian king was wont to eat, and to what age the longest-lived of the Persians had been known to attain. They told him that the king ate bread, and described the nature of wheat - adding that eighty years was the longest term of man's life among the Persians. Hereat he remarked, "It did not surprise him, if they fed on dirt, that they died so soon; indeed he was sure they never would have lived so long as 80 years, except for the refreshment they got from that drink (meaning the wine), wherein he confessed the Persians surpassed the Ethiopians." [23] The Icthyophagi then in their turn questioned the king concerning the term of life, and diet of his people, and were told that most of them lived to be 120 years old, while some even went beyond that age - they ate boiled flesh, and had for their drink nothing but milk." . -Herodotus 430 B.C.

It would likely be vegans that win due to the popularity of the diet, because there’s more vegans than carnivores there’s higher chances that people with elite genetics will be in the group. Keto vs vegans on the other hand I think that people on keto would definitely win because it’s a lot more popular and there’s a wider range of people

I retired 10 years ago and went to live in Malaysia for a while. While there, I read The China Study and immediately decided to become a vegetarian. After six months of boredom, I went for my annual checkup and found I had put on about 30lbs and my bloods were haywire. I told my lovely lady doctor to make another appointment for six weeks time, went home and told my wife I was going on Atkins. Six weeks later, I was 10lbs lighter and my bloods were normal. She was stupified! Just one month ago, I decided to go carnivore and I feel like a new man at the age of 76. I've lost weight - I'm not sure how much - but I feel better now than I did when I was in my 50s. I can't believe the difference this makes. My only problem is that my wife, who is a salad junkie, thinks I'm killing myself! I've told her to wait and see. I just wish she would try it. It would cure her of her many little auto-immune conditions. Wish me luck. 🇮🇪

Hello Dr. Chaffee, I always enjoy your presentations; combined with Bart Kay, this one was fantastic. I discovered what I call the Carnivore Diet a few years ago and toyed with it on and off while maintaining a Ketogenic Diet of only whole, non-processed foods. Last year, however, I developed stage 3 anal cancer (HPV related), the news of which hit me in the head like a runaway baseball bat. Of course, all of those who criticized my meat-heavy diet told me that it was the meat and not the virus that caused my cancer; I, however, disagreed, vehemently. Following my own research, I discovered that fasting made chemotherapy extremely bearable but unfortunately, radiation on the ole bung-hole is a pain probably worse than childbirth. I suffered through the standard of care with my head up, I figured that if cancer doesn't kill me, it may be the best thing that ever happened to me, how? The day of my diagnosis, I pledged to myself that I would maintain a strict meat and water only diet, continue strength training with the attitude that for me to survive, I must be stronger than my opponent, and learn to accept the inevitable, that one day like all life forms, I too will die, but not today. A year later, I'm now cancer-free according to the PET scan I had last week. My oncologist (a truly wonderful guy despite his nutritional ignorance) told me that during this stressful time, I should be rewarding myself with all the wonderful, sugary things that make me happy, that I deserve it. I looked him squarely in the eye and said "I don't think I want to do that; I want a steak." If the good Lord sees fit to give me a long life, I just turned 60, I plan to share this diet with anyone traversing down the very scary road of cancer recovery. Thanks for all you do!

Im 62 and have never had a weight problem so didn't do carnivore to loose weight. I had a really bad case of covid about six months ago and oddly enough the only thing that didn't upset my stomach was meat. My daughter made homemade chicken vegetables soup and I couldn't eat any of the sweet vegetables like carrots and parsnips. After covid I started eating regular food meat and lots of veggies. I kept thinking why when I was deadly ill my body only wanted meat. About three months ago I started carnivore because I was so low energy after covid where as before I had a lot more energy. My energy has greatly improved and my skin is noticably smoother on my face and tighter on my body.

All of my major problems started in 2016 when I was told I needed to increase fiber and vegetables. I really already was what I thought was a healthy eater. I had already cut out pasta, bread, potatoes, etc for 20 years. I became constipated because of the added fiber/veggies and the more I increased the worse it got. I also started having pre-diabetic issues. My functional Dr kept insisting I needed to go full on vegan even when I told him that I didn't even have constipation before I started adding more fiber/veggies and I resisted him for a year because I felt better having meat in my diet but because of his pressure I cut back on meat as well. In 2021 I gave in and tried vegan for about 6 weeks because I was feeling desparate, then switched to keto because I started feeling so horribly ill. I lost 20 lbs in 3 weeks on vegan and another 25 over the next 2 months on keto, my hair started falling out and I lost like 2/3's of my thick beautiful hair over the last year. I could not eat enough food to sustain me so I felt like hell. I switched to carnivore 6 months ago and felt so much better the first month but it's been such a slow progression I think that I caused way too much damage. I was so obsessed with feeding my body "higher nutrition" making huge salads, emulsifying tons of veggies just to get them in because I am not a big eater. Also eating tons of nuts and almond flour to keep cravings down. I started craving sugar from the pre-diabetes. I think I'm oxalate dumping because I have horrible scaly scalp & skin that started after going carnivore. I know I'm slowly getting better but still losing hair. I keep trying to increase meat, eggs and fat but I fear I still don't eat enough. I am so angry at being deceived my whole life about nutrition and I am just praying I can turn my health around at 71.

I'm 75 yrs. old and starting on a carnivore diet. Two years ago I was doing a ketogenic diet and learning a lot about nutrition and energy. I did not know anything about an alternative source of energy called ketones. I saw an article about my local hospital which does cancer research. The article was about a new imaging test for lung cancer which might be very helpful for people who smoked for a long time. This new test could be used to show the beginning of lung cancer and thus provide an early means of intervention as so much lung cancer is only discovered after it has spread through the body and will be lethal. I spoke to my primary physician and asked if he could help me get this new test to see where I stood. My reasoning for doing this was the fact that I had been smoking for about 45 years. He helped me set up the scan which was done in January, 2019. The scan showed a nodule on my left lung which might be cancerous but it was small. They told me to return in a year to see if it had grown. I was pleased that they advised me to come back in a year. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 lockdown was beginning in January, 2020 and I did not return for a new scan because of the danger. I got the followup scan in Jannuary, 2021 and there was good news but also bad news. The original nodule had been resolved but threre was a new nodule with a growth that was larger than the first one. They recommended surgery to remove the nodule because of its size. They first attempted a biopsy to confirm that it was cancerous. It was cancerous so i agreed to the surgery which was done in June, 2021. In the intervening time I quit smoking through fasting (three day fast, water only). I have not smoked since that three day fast. I also fasted for five days before the lung surgery which was performed on the fifth day of fasting. I thought it would help with side effects of nausea, diarrhea, and headache. The surgery went well and no evidence that the cancer had spread. Also no side effects from the surgery. I had chemotherapy for a;bout six months after the surgery and fasted at the time of each infusion, usually a three day fast. I had little to no side effects from chemo since my system was empty. I did, however, loose my hair. My hair did return in full. I was asked by the hospital if I would participate in a cancer study which I agreed to do. I was an ongoing study of a immunotherapy drug called keytruda. I had two infusions of the drug which was administered the same way as chemo and I also fasted for three days each time. I had a bad reaction to the third infusion and dropped out of the study. My thyroid had stopped working so I had to take an artificial thyroid medication which I am still taking. I'm not taking anything for cancer but still experience lack of energy, brain fog, and feeling of cold extremities from the immunotherapy drug. I'm hoping the carnivore diet will help with the thyroid as that's the thing dragging me along at this point.

Can You or Bart please explain to me the what and why a certain “Person” is claiming that we need a little fiber (ie. Avocado and cruciferous vegetables) not to poop but to be able to produce DMO (ie. Anti-histamine). These mixed message create confusion and it feels as of late like fear mongering. “Dangerous this and dangerous that.” Also that, for a woman, not to have more than 70 grams of protein/day?!? I didn’t come in to lose weight. I was already super lean and trying to lower my protein intake and cut it into three times a day is causing me to lose way too much weight. I am figuring out that when I eat more protein my body likes it and it’s the only thing that helps me to put on weight other than eating cheese and dairy which I’m not really into doing. It does not make me feel great. Thank you in advance for any reply. And also thank you both so much for all of the wealth of information.

just to balance that up 😂 you two are exceptional when it comes to the nitty gritty of optimal human nutrition. I am one of those people that has to try to find any and all potential issues with any given theory (hence how I seek out full truth in all matters). I have had many satisfactory answers from both of you guys. What is even better is that you both have huge libraries for me to enjoy and binge watch. Looking for truth is very much like skimming for weeds in a garden…first we have to dig loosely over a huge area…then we hone in on anything that is congruent with our understanding and experiences…then we test and hone, teat and hone, and eventually it feels like we have found the potential summit of that particular mountain where most factors are accounted for. Of all the various mountains if truth out there in any particular field (history, healing, nutrition, reality, frequencies etc) you two stand right up near the top on the nutrition front. Doc Chaffee showed that he is still at basecamp on history though (quite common among you specialists). What is important is that you understand the nature of reality, knowledge, and programming/indoctrination, and always try to use correct scientific language to explain anything. eg, “these finding may suggest”, or, “the 1930s German govt spoke openly about how when lies are repeated enough times, people tend to believe them”….quite pertinent that you would mention one of THE most lied about figures in modern history to highlight this truth, using the lie 😂😂😂

I'm shifting to carnivore from plant paradox. Already feeling better and I'm not 90% yet. The most interesting thing I've noticed, is after eating an only meat meal, I feel calm and grounded, whereas before I'd get a "food buzz" then ride that for a while until I crashed. There is no "food buzz" with carnivore, there is no energy crash. Just calm, sustained, clean energy.

Then one unfortunate day I decided I was ready to reintroduce fruit back and I had some strawberries and immediately the cravings came back and you know what happened!! I'm trying to stop eating carbs to this day and I put on all the weight back and some more 😬. Yes, that's food addiction and I've learned the lesson, I can't moderate, I have to stay away from carbs and plants 100% of the time. Thank you doctors for opening my eyes again! 💕🌟

Listening to the two of you guys is more educational than any class I ever sat through at university. I have so many questions about the “balanced diet” and the Randall Cycle. I’ve had two terrible experiences of watching two people (soon to be three) in my family fall to Dementia/Alzheimers disease. I tried suggesting they be fed purely animal based and was met with ridicule.. not only by the case workers, but by family as well. At the point both were at, it was like, what is there to lose??? It’s just so frustrating to watch.. I am convinced that the food being shoveled into them was only making the conditions so much worse. My dad is next. He’s losing the mental sharpness he once had and his physical condition is rapidly going downhill (inflammation, fluid retention, joint pain, etc). He thinks I’m absolutely wrong for daring to suggest his doctor’s advice to eat plenty of grains, fruits and vegetables, and lean meats Is hurting his health. People think what’s happening to him is just a part of getting old. I don’t understand how the medical industry can allow this to happen. The information that high carb diets are poor diets has been, and is still, right in front of their faces, yet they will not admit they are wrong.. and allow this type diet to continue to ruin the health of everyone. His nowhere near overweight .. which is the odd thing. But he has all the markers of being insulin resistant and definitely has cardiovascular disease from the decades of eating a diet made up mostly of carbs and process Foods, and seed oils.

That is without any lifting/cardio, which I hope to resume again soon. I am hoping to let go of more of the seasonings and artificial sweeteners as well but had I not found keto, I probably would be dead but instead have reversed by T2D (no longer on my chart), no longer high cholesterol (we'll see how my LDL looks later this month), normal blood pressure, lots of energy, stable moods and better skin, hair and somehow gum/tooth health seem better as well. Many years ago I was a raw vegan thinking it was really healthy, and in 2015 at Fremantle Hospital they took my left kidney because it was not working. @@anthonychaffeemd hey Doc. I teach clients the carnivore diet... Well I do it for free.... Could you do something on avoiding spices and herbs? It's a problem in my opinion. I have people stalling on carnivore and not able to reach satiety until I get them to remove everything but salt. When I get them to go really strict then they can lose fat quickly. And they do. It's amazing. People are reporting they reach satiety with less meat and stay satisfied longer. I also have to preach no artificial sweetners, no seed oils, nothing from plants. Heck I even make them stop chewing sugar free gum lol. I guess that's why I can't charge for my consultations. I'm really strict. If they won't follow instructions I won't work with them.

the Mediterranean diet I feel is the best diet. People on this diet, which is really not a diet, but a way of life, live the longest and healthiest. All these strict diets overload something or other. Loading on just meat has no fibre therefore, it is not really great for cleansing the bowels. I have known lots of people on just carnivore diets and they became extremely constipated and miserable.

It's a sad fact when people argue on the side of their addictions. My father boasted that even though he was an alcoholic and diabetic his Dr. said he could have a glass of wine a day and his interpretation was a huge glass or 2 of VO5. Granted he was also in a lot of pain as he lost both legs below his knees to an angiogram gone wrong which was blamed on diabetes. He had 3 heart attacks, several bouts of cancer, broke nearly every bone in his body, a major stroke that paralyzed the left side of his body. He was like a cat with 9 lives and died at 71 by his own choice. With his love for meat and his drive to live I think with the right information his life would have totally changed. My daughter is totally addicted to sugar and refined carbs, is in debilitating pain from all sorts of imflamatory conditions, takes like 17 Rxs, along with alcohol and medical MJ just to get through the day and even though she sees my slow progress getting better on carnivore she refuses to look at anything I send her saying that in 10 years someone will come along and say this was just another lie. She really believes she cannot survive without her addictions and some of her meds are so bad she may never be able to get off them. I'm just sick that I didn't learn this years ago so that I could have maybe reached her before these horrible drugs totally took over her mind. I totally believe that sugar is the worst because I've watched her prefer sugar over real food for years. And I withheld sugar from her the first 3 years of her life but when people started sneaking it to her she became immediately addicted. I did my best as a parent, she wasn't given the things she constantly eats. Now I'm just driving her away with my pleading for her to love herself enough to listen to me. I keep hoping for some miraculous improvements in my own recovery to hopefully convince her.

It's also hard to know the answer, and fit them to not want to listen. I have that issue as well. It's tough to see them with conditions and pain that you know they don't need to have. All you can do is lead by example, arm yourself with the facts, and eventually they may take notice. Or not. But hopefully they do

That's very hard. I understand the feeling. My mother was an alcoholic smoker, she died very young. I was given advice by a spiritual mentor 10 years before she passed to love her exactly as she is, to stop feeling responsible to save her, to accept her exactly as she is with no need of her to change. Im Glad I took this advice, because I got ten years of a good relationship with her. 🌟🧚🌟

Great talk as always Dr Chaffee. I really like your idea of fasting as the true natural state. Sort of building on that is the idea of a balanced diet. I think we need a balanced diet to be healthy. We need to balance fat with protein. Carbs should not be included in a balanced diet because they aren’t necessary. If I include carbs as part of a balanced diet then why not cigarettes and cocaine? Those aren’t necessarily either and a whole lot more fun. A balanced diet should only include the necessary micronutrients.

I've been carnivore a month. You've become my virtual mentor. I caught a couple interviews with Dr. Gundry talking his new book uncoupling mitochondria. I've heard a few of his talking points that I think you'd take issue. Have you read it? Do you have an invite out to him? Or maybe just a video on your thoughts to it... Thanks Doc!

Thank you, I really appreciate that! I haven't read that book, but yeah I find it strange that Dr Gundry wrote an entire book about how plants naturally defend themselves with toxins, and then turns around and pushes a plant based diet. I don't know what's going on there

I found keto back in 2018. Within a few months I had dropped 32lbs, brought elevated liver numbers back into the normal range(which blew my mind that it happened so quickly), was relieved of very painful arthritis pain, and was able to reduce or eliminate medications. I stalled in weight loss. I went Carnivore. Lost fat, felt great. But, then I didn't. I started feeling crappy and went on crazy carb binges off and on. Its as if my body gets to a specific weight range and resists, feels like its fighting against my efforts. I'm 65. A woman who's been on diets since puberty. Ive lost hundreds of pounds over these 55yrs. If not for the grandbabies I've been blessed with, I'd probably throw in the towel. But, I can't. I'm grateful for keto & carnivore. If I eat too many carbs the pain comes back. I fast, I eat carnivore, pain goes away. 👍 I need help. I need a plan I guess: what to eat, how much to eat? Avocadoes? Coconut oil? MCT oil? My personal choices, I'd like to stay as close to naturally occurring foods as possible. But, right now, I'd follow a plan of your suggestion, to the T. I'm so done right now. I'm feeling I've got ONE more push in me to get a handle on a lasting, personal, eating design.

Well I think that going pure high fat meat and water is definitely the way to go, and will absolutely give you the most benefit, and eliminate cravings and issues within weeks. My hard rule is No Plants, No Sugar, Nothing Artificial. I have an Instagram post on how to do a meal plan, and I have a video on KZbin talking about What I Eat on a Carnivore Diet you can look at for tips as well. I'll link the Instagram one. instagram.com/p/CW0GTjlP83I/?

Hi Doctor Chaffee, I have a question about a comment you made during an interview on another channel: You mentioned that you think there are huge gains in going strict carnivore, versus being mostly meat-based. I’m curious about this idea. I wonder if you could either expound on it, and/or point me in the direction of more material regarding this idea. You said you feel like a different kind of human being strict, versus when you would go in and out of carnivore. I wonder what specific benefits you may experience as a strict carnivore, and what negatives could be associated with being, say, 95% carnivore, for example.

Hi, great question. I have spoken about this before but basically the harm you get just from a little plant material and especially carbs has a greater proportional effect on your body and biochemistry than the subsequent amounts of carbs and plants do. When you pour some sand into clockwork, it causes a lot of issues and makes things run very poorly. If you add in a lot more, it will get worse, but it's already screwed from the first bit of sand that got in.

Quick carnivore question? Do any of you people find that an evening carnivore meal sits in the small gut longer than it should? I get a slightly bloated and uncomfortable small intestine occasionally and it can persist until morning usually where it can eventually be felt sliding further along into the large intestine. It’s a strange feeling that doesn’t happen on a keto diet.
