I'm relieved to see that the enobi is hanging in there. They are surprisingly resilient plants and once growth takes off they grow quite quickly. I pulled a pre-coffee booboo and knocked mine off the shelf and broke it in half. Both halves were like. I hate you. Take this... and killed off all their roots. now one half has a keiki and the other half has a new basal growth and they both have just started throwing out new roots like mad. The new roots seem to be loving my inorganic mix. They seem way happier and healthier than the plant did when it was whole and potted in bark and moss. It's been a very interesting experience making the change. And some surprising observations as well. At least with my environment and care preferences and habits all my orchids are going growth crazy. Some of that is I am moving closer to my summer season but I don't think that entirely accounts for th quality of growth. I expect growth to speed up in the warmer temperature and longer daylight hours, but the roots I am seeing are much plumper and happier looking. I can't say it's because my media was sour because all my orchids had been purchased within the last year and were all repotted into fresh bark. I'll be watching further development with great interest. Maybe if I can avoid traumatizing my plants I might even see a spike or two in my future.

hey Danny.....from my experience dens are very difficult to kill.....they jus have an overwhelming will to live!!!! some of my mini /compact dens always put out multiple growths and spikes simultaneously!!!!

I purchased what was supposed to be a NoID Dendrobium phalaenopsis from a seller on eBay. When it came in the mail, the pseudobulb was folded in half and crammed into a small envelope. I straightened the pbulb and potted it up. It eventually sent out new growth, which included four or five keikis. And the Dendrobium actually turned out to be a Noble variety. It blooms quite regularly and has become one of my favorites.

I don't like dendrobiums, but it's always nice to see an orchid this vigorous. :)

Yeah, I might like some, but usually those I like tend to be cool/intermediate growers and that's a no no for me xD I know there's a huuuuuge bunch of species, but most of all I dislike canes or fusiform pseudobulbs. And I'm not a huge fan of pendant growing orchids either. All the dendrobiums I like are the australian area growers tho. At least every time I got "that den looks cool" turns out to be from that area, which I know you are from. I think I want the Dendrobium Nestor tho, just because of the name XD

I just repotted my latoria that I brought back to thriving health. I decided not to remove the old media as it is still good media and I definitely didn’t want to set her back by possibly damaging roots who already felt glued to old media even after her soak. I tend to leave roots alone on specific orchids anyway and they just keep going like nothing ever happened, so I think removing media is only needed if it is definitely rotting, the plant is showing poor health signs or the plant(or media,) is starting to rot.

What a coincidence! :D I've happen to and buy my first mini dendrobium and I was trying to find its name and viola! I'm a bit giddy, to think I share atleast one common orchid with you (beginner here) :) dendrobiums are very common and have the cheapest price range here in my country (Philippines)--- anyway, love your channel and happy growing!! :D

I hope anyone scrolling through the comment section had a GREAT MOTHERS DAY!!! My first dendrobium( which was also the comet king) almost killed itself because of the amount of keikis it produced. HOPEFULLY ALL OF THIS GOES WELL! IM SO AMAZED BY YOUR ORCHIDS!!😋Also, is there a way to stop a dendrobium nobile from blooming and producing keikis this year so that it can make double the amount of flowers next year? Sorry 😐 for being so demanding, I couldn't find any information on this anywhere else😕 ITS SO AMMAAZZIING TO SEE ALL YOUR ORCHIDS!!! THEY'RE ALL SO PRETTY!!! HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY!!!!!!!

yes that would be amazing , a top 5 hardy species or 1o!

Nice! Are you going to keep some type of humidity tent over the Enobi, or is the moist medium enough to keep encouraging root growth? The tall sides on the original cup you used, most likely help increase humidity, while still allowing adequate air circulation. Just curious if you were going to try and mimic that in the new pot.

you can tell an expert by how well they revive something like this 🙂 !!! that said I think I'll start with australian dendrobiums, they come from a wild climate so don't need such specialized care

Great video! :) if I might just one observation: the term hardy for a plant refers to what temperatures it can tolerate. I noticed you misuse that word in several videos. You can say resistant, robust, etc... Hope it helps😊
@Fivel5037 жыл бұрын
I would against this ... while yes, often hardy is in reference to hardiness zones for plants, and in this meaning is also a measurement for outdore planting mostly, though it does include drought and wind tollarence as well. the way it is being used in this video is its hardiness in its ability to cope and survive in an indoor environment. its hardiness is such that it is able to come back after adverse conditions and maintain its self in the grow space provided. That is hardiness. also used as as defined ; 'robust; capable of enduring difficult conditions'. so she is using the direct term, as it can be applied in two different functions - general hardiness of something and a plants ability to survive conditions.
