This is very sad. A mother, that couldn't or didn't want deal with her own child, and didn't do enough to protector her after she herself was assaulted by a monster. I can just hope that Margaret, is in heaven with her father. He seems to be the only one that truly cared for his daughter.

So sad that Margaret’s father placed his trust in these greedy murderers. Margaret senior is partly to blame for not trying harder to get along with her daughter. This is not an isolated case of greed. Many families in the US have profited from the benefits of their elderly family members that were murdered . So sad of a case. Do we know for sure that her father actually did ask them to help? Or is it possible they lied in order to steal from her, knowing that the two Margaret's had a difficult relationship? Terrible either way.

That poor girl. It’s remarkable the the social worker didn’t know that Margaret was gone for such a long time. That girl shouldn’t have lived there in the first place. I don’t know how this is done in the U.K., but in the Netherlands this people mostly live in family replacement houses. Or with assistant living on their own. They go to work, have friends and are taken care of by professionals.

I assumed that this concept was used everywhere. What a pity that it’s not the case. There was a home near where I lived. In the morning the group took the same bus as I did. One of the girls was always experimenting with hair. Pink, bleu, green. Some of them worked in the hospital, some of them in a hotel. In my city we even have a lunchroom completely driven by mentally disabled. The name is “de onthaasting”, which means slow life. It’s near the station, and is very popular. Good food and good service according to reviews on TripAdvisor.

@@jannetteberends8730 In my county in Scotland we do have similar projects but so far as I know they are all run by charities. There is a cafe like the one you describe in my town, run by Scottish Autism and I know some young men with learning disabilities who live in supported housing in the town - it sounds very much like the situation you mention. I myself have mental health problems and have benefitted from the work of a local arts project, run by a charity. However the NHS and social services in the area are horribly under-funded and overwhelmed. Sadly, the majority of really positive helpful work seems to be done by small business, charities and social enterprises rather than the state run agencies.I say sadly, because these organisations are under constant financial threat, and can only offer a piecemeal approach. Every community needs them.

Having an elderly brother with Downs Syndrome this was an especially disturbing story. Many people see this as a burden but I personally am grateful to have him in my life and as a reminder that there are naturally sweet people in this world . Another great video.

They used pain to trick mom and then abused and stole from a woman that frankly, wouldn’t have been able to put up a fight.

I know the father was desperate to find someone who would care for his daughter before he passed. I wonder did he pick the couple or did they approach him and offer? Manipulators and users often hide behind the mask of being helpful and caring. I hope they both relive every awful thing that was done to her and it haunts the remainder of their lives.

It's unconscionable to me that this vulnerable girl was left with these monsters, then can be dead for 17 years before anyone noticed! I hope there are better rules in place to keep these most innocent of people safe and tracked .there should have to be routine visits with a family doctor and mental health advocates. This is truly a disturbing case and should never have happened..

Tragic story. Tragic people. Tragic life. This story left me with a total feeling of emptiness and helplessness. I keep seeing this beautiful girl who seems to have lived most of her life without knowing the feelings of warmth, security, safety, being wanted, needed, or loved. She existed and most people didn’t even notice her existence. One good outcome can be that we can become aware of others and not let this happen to others, even if it only to notice and acknowledge those around us.

These are the kinda crimes that hit me the most both in anger & emotionally. Seeing an innocent vulnerable soul who has learning disabilities first being rejected abandoned & failed by her own mam then horrifically & cold heartedly tortured & then killed at the hands of two scheming thieving lying monstrous evil people that was chosen by Margaret's dad to look after his own daughter really breaks my heart tbh. Vulnerable people like Margaret don't deserve to be treated to appallingly. She lost her life due to greed. I only hope Margaret is safe with her dad side by side in angels heaven that she's finally at peace like she deserves. As for Margaret's killers I hope they suffer that they fuckin rot in hell like they deserve. Far as I'm concerned they don't deserve to live. Anyway as always great content Crime Reel 👌

ANYONE, receiving state/federal benefits, should have to re-qualify each year by physically showing up at a benefits office. If unable, then a welfare check should be conducted to ensure that the person receiving benefits is still alive and is physically unable to appear. It is very common in the USA that family members continue to receive Social Security benefits, sometimes for decades after the beneficiary has passed. One can only guess as to how much the state/federal governments just throw money away each year...it has to be in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

I live in Inverclyde and the social work department are well known for being lazy and not following up on people in danger or being neglected.Inverclyde council are also to blame as they care more about council tax than people.
