Truly Criminal

Truly Criminal

March, 2017. What began as a normal day in Stourbridge, England would soon take a disturbing turn. Emergency services were dispatched to a house on Greyhound Lane, where they would find a horrifying scene. They needed to stop a violent and dangerous offender, and quickly.

Don't bring random people into your home. I made that mistake once, taking in a mother and her young child. She lied and stole from me, got hold of my mother and managed to turn her against me for a time, and it was only resolved when she met some random man and moved out. The home is sacred, and as much as we want to help someone, we shouldn't bring them into our homes.

If the bible is true, Jesus sacrificed his life to save us and look at the state of us today? He knew that this would be the case but still gave his life for us. Not all attempts to save others from themselves end like this.

@@nathanb5923 if the Bible isn’t true though… then it’s merely an old fiction novel. That’s not to say I have the answer either way and I certainly don’t mean to offend anyone who follows the Bible, I just point it out because at the end of the day if no one helped anyone else under any circumstances we’d have gone extinct as a species several millennia ago. So I agree with Wonko to an extent- you really can’t help everyone and especially not those unwilling to acknowledge they both need help and will put the work in themselves to better themselves- but I agree with you as well in the sense being a compassionate, helpful person does not always lead to this kind of tragic end. Far more often it leads to a fulfilling, long life where your memory amongst the general public is one of honor and respect.

@@markcarpenter6020Did you miss out the bit where I prefaced my comment with “if the bible is true”? If you don’t believe it is then what is your problem? To believe in God requires a leap of faith. Some choose to do so and others like you opt to scoff at the notion. But there are men and women far more intelligent, educated and successful than you who are of faith. You do have the right to ridicule but you miss the larger point which is about not giving up on looking out for one another however thankless this might be. Just imagine how much worse this world would be if we were all like you? Atheism is not synonymous with heartlessness. If you had, for example, a troubled son or daughter or some other loved one perhaps you might begin to understand what I mean.

I made the mistake of allowing a family member to move into our home because he was about to be kicked out of his previous living arrangement. He stole things from us, would go through our room and closet when we weren't home, tried to turn me against my husband, endless lies and manipulation.. he would also stand outside our door to listen to our conversations. It was maddening, NEVER AGAIN. Dont let anyone move in with you, dont care what their sob story is.

When I was younger, my mom tried to help someone from the church who had just been released from prison. They were told it was for outstanding warrants or something. Come to find out he was 20 years older than he told everyone and he had been in jail for kidnapping, rape, and murder 2. I was left alone with this guy, and my mom, church group, and church did a bunch to help him out. So now I give to organizations to try and make a difference, I am not putting myself and family at risk to save or help anyone.

There was a very similar case in my town, in which a whole church banded together to convince the parole board to let out a convicted murderer. All the members offered their money, their support for him-on the grounds that his shooting of a man years ago was only due to drug-induced temporary insanity. A local mother helped him get back on his feet by hiring him as a handyman in her home. Within months, he had snuck in to rob them, beaten her to death, stuffed her in a closet, and made off with her vehicle. It was a trauma for our whole community and I thank God that her two children had not been home at the time-because this man had no soul and would mot have hesitated to harm others. Religious institutions need to take more responsibility for how they encourage members to help-we cannot emulate biblical figures and let strangers stay in our homes or mangers. It is a new age with new dangers, and we need to adapt the way we give so that our families are safe.

While it’s noble and incredibly caring to help others and want to save them, it’s also incredibly dangerous. Not only would I not give a stranger my name or info, I would NEVER take them to my home especially if I had children. It may sound harsh, but drugs can make the sweetest person into someone completely opposite of who they’ve always been. Desperation, mental health issues, a past of sexual and other abuse can lead to violence towards anyone. I wouldn’t expose my child or family to the potential for danger. Give cash or food, volunteer at a shelter, donate blankets, clothes etc to groups that help those in need, but keep your personal life separate. It’s too dangerous. Yes, I’ve known people who were targeted by their own family members after becoming addicted to cocaine and heroine. With meth and fentanyl, it’s even worse. Be careful out there.

It is tragic that he couldn’t realize that after all he’d suffered, that he’d been given the equivalent of a miracle, in the form of strangers who randomly offered him love, support, opportunities, dignity, empathy, family and second and third chances. Basically everything anyone needs to build a successful life. He was shown the absolute best side of humanity, those who help those in need completely selflessly and he was too broken to recognize it. He didn’t see that Tracy was no less than a Guardian Angel who came to save him and he murdered his own angel and her child. If there is a hell.. I’m not sure what more you could do to earn a spot. I’d bet that Tracy would still be up there advocating for him though as only an angel would.

The duck said, “No, if I carry you over you will sting me.” The scorpion said, “Never! Just help me out and I will be nice to you.” Of course, as soon as they arrived on the other side of the pond, the scorpion stung the duck. When asked why, the scorpion replied, “I am a scorpion. Taking rough sleepers home to her very nice and comfortable home is all but unheard of these days. The way Aaron seemingly showed his gratitude for this very significant, trusting and charitable effort from the family makes me sick to my stomach. He had spent Christmas with the family. And then, when they cancelled the phone contract they had paid for because he had ignored them for a few weeks, he returned to the family home and butchered them. It's almost beyond belief for me.
