Congrats on your 40th! I had the pleasure of meeting Harry late 1990's at Performance Audio in Merrick, New York. I purchased a VPI with acrylic platter and Eminent Technology air bearing arm (built by Mike at American Audiophile in Lynbrook, NY). I felt so very proud that I had the best piece of music reproduction device I could acquire. While at Performance Audio, Mr. Weisfeld pulls up in a Chevy station wagon and I thought how uncool! However after chatting with him I was secure in his practical approach to he tables. I am still use the table. Thank you Harry! VPI forever! from Chris.

Glad to hear some positive remarks about the Shure Cartridges with the "Dynamic Stablizer" brush. It makes a difference.

As much as I've enjoyed these recent interview 'series' with Andrew & Nelson, I'd say this has been my fav. Maybe it's the fact it's to do with one of my audio passions, but I like to think it's the relaxed nature, the stories, no 'big noting', just such an incredible family run business that has lasted through the bad times. Just makes me wanna support these guys. If only I lived in the US! I want to thank the boys for making this happen....if there's one thing I could suggest; it's that Harry needs to improve upon his beer selection. 😂

In just a few weeks time I have gone from being complacent and financially stable to now lusting after Pass Labs, VPI, and high end Andrew Jones designed speakers. I will be moving back to Brokeassville very soon.

I've got a scout ii with the extra heavy platter. It's got ortofon 2m black. My friend with a 35k turntable setup was impressed with its sound, especially the detail. While i've never checked the resonance of the arm/cartridge combo, they seem to like each other well enough

Steve, I don’t know how you’re going to top Nelson and the Weisfelds! Maybe you need to go to Canada and interview the Bryston group or out to California and speak to the Magico folks. Ah. I got it. You need to go to NY and spend some time with the McIntosh crew! Anyway, I love my VPI Prime Signature turntable. It is the gem of my system. I love that it’s made in the USA and in NJ, no less! Keep on rockin’!

That explains a lot, rush making every component, work till midnight so you are tired and not sure if you put it together correctly, then ship it off to a foreign country where if there is a problem, you don't have to worry about it. The standard model.

Steve, it's kinda curious, and hypocritical, that you performed blind tests for patrons but you and the other reviewers refuse to do them. For what it's worth I love this channel and all you contribute to the industry.

I remember the first vinyl I heard on a stereo console from the 60's in the family living room. The arm and needle nobody gave a thought to. I remember it as kind of big and heavy and dorky metal. Each time it landed on a record God Knows the damage the needle that never got replaced did (The Needle and The Damage Done, lol). The sound was mostly vague and muddy. Then I played vinyl on a mid-fi technics table and system thru the 80's. The sound was better, but often I could not make out the lyrics of my favorite bands. The digital processed vinyl records sounded best, like Stop Making Sense and Bop Til You Drop. And cds also sounded better than their vinyl counterparts on that system. But I have never heard a great vinyl on a great system so I can't really tell if it's the better format. But it seems like that is what audiophiles are saying. On a great system the vinyl will usually beat the cd. But on a mid fi system the cd may beat the vinyl.

I like how this interview combines arrogance with narcissism while diminishing neither one. Maybe the mfr who only made a small note of their 40th anniversary in an print ad had it right. Really, a book written by yourselves promoting yourselves with no fact checking? Maybe you should have spent the money improving your almost non-existent customer service instead.
