The tall man is what i most love in horror: a slow ominous figure following you slowly, calmly yet non-stop and you cant comprehend or stop it. No safety in logic or planning, way more scary than those frantic monsters in movies or cheap jumpscares that pray in momentary alarming

Sure, Stephen best fits denial and maybe Nelly best fits with acceptance but the other three don't match up at all. Shirley is supposed to represent anger but it's Theo who expresses anger at Nell's suicide, an so on.

The way I see it, if the mom had psychometric abilities, they were nowhere near as strong as Theo’s. If she had Theo’s touch sense, they never would’ve bought that house and she would have known the kids were telling the truth about what they saw. I think she had just enough empathic ability to make her susceptible to to the ghost’s influence. Either way, she could have seen psychic gifts as a natural human ability that science just hasn’t found an explanation for and not a supernatural thing. It passed down in her family, so she probably sees it as genetic.

I feel like Olivia's abilities were kind of like the Dad in The Shining. He's got just enough paranormal sensitivity to know something's wrong, but not enough to really be able to deal with it in a constructive. Which inevitably leads to tragedy.

I think you're right. I also suspect that maybe Theo's abilities may have originally been on the same level as her mom since she didn't react too badly to moving in at first. I think her ability got amplified after the ghost touched her hand.

I think it’s the opposite. I think Theo specifically has psychometry but I think Olivia was psychokinetic. I think all of the siblings have some psychic ability to some extent except maybe Steve. Shirley seem to give prophecies in her sleep it’s easy to miss but in the first episode she tells the future twice while sleep talking.

When Olivia was a kid she got upset (I think because her dad died but I don’t remember) and she made it rain hail sized rocks on her home. It’s implies she might have been responsible for the storm in episode 6. Whatever powers she might have had she definitely wasn’t in control of them which is probably why she was so susceptible to the ghost and got migraines from them frequently

We had like a 2-episode-per-week kinda thing and dragging this show for 5 weeks was the worst emotional rollercoaster I've ever been on. This show is better than a lot of horror series/movies because it focuses more on the characters and story than the horror. Many others make the mistake of having shitty characters that no one cares about, while overusing cheap scares as well. This one has a good balance of intelligent and classic scares, but as second chair like it should be.

the tall bowler hat ghost honestly is the most terrifying thing to me for some reason. episode 5 is my favorite of the sibling focused episodes but i honestly feel like 6-10 are just perfect television. steve is definitely a dick but people forget that luke is a drug addict just because they like his character. everyone i know with drug addicts in their family had to eventually cut them off emotionally. everyone seems to think their family member is the exception when it comes to addiction like they'd be able to get by without the disease coming in between their relationship. the same with nell in a very sad way. luke's tear when he decides to confront the ghost that's been following him gets me every time.

In the flash back he explicitly mentions what withdrawal is like, and he mentioned being cold to her she answered with a slightly worried tone that it's not cold out... she did abandon him, but she might have been trying to keep him from buying more drugs, I dunno... its just odd that she did it right after she said he was sweating and he said he felt freezing...

I don't blame the parents at all. I don't see any evidence that the mom has the same exact ability as Theo, and if she did have that ability then they would have never bought the house. This is trying to give a realistic reaction of how busy parents of 5 children would react to these very isolated incidents in a creepy old house that could easily be explained by a childs imagination (most incidents of which they aren't even aware of). There's also the issue of what they could actually do about it even if they did think that there was some truth to there being a supernatural entity in the home. They clearly have sunk all of their money into buying and flipping this home.

The father gives Shirley the cats, Luke the ghosts hat, Nell he gives her and Shirley the key to the stairs, He gives the older boy his own memories of the place, so I never saw this the first time I watched it, but maybe the father was the mad one and possessed by the red headed lady ghost, cant remember her name, and she helped make out that the mother was mad so she was separated from the children so she could kill the mother, cause she wasn't a very good mother in her life, so the red headed lady possessed the father so she could pass on all those talismans to the children giving them a part of the house and the supernatural powers and the house wanted them all back so it could reclaim them back now they didn't really need them.. just my own thoughts. Also did you know that the actress who plays adult theo is Mike Flannigan's wife.

You should react to the 1999 movie "The Haunting". Nell, Theo and Luke are some of the main characters. The story is different, though, and they are not related.
