I was born in Beverly, Mass which is a city next door to Salem. In the mid 70s I lived in Salem. That was on Proctor St. ( a one way st) I used to walk my dog in Gallows Hill Park which was very close. The apt house was the first building on the left due to the rocky ledge heading up off Boston St. I was pleasantly surprised to find the original hanging site was through the woods, right next to my apt, heading towards Boston St. So extremely close to where I once lived! Suffice to say, I and my friends wandered all over Salem back then. I've visited many cemeteries there and been friends with many witches and warlocks too. They were featured on a 1980s national Geographic Cover. Giles Cory was a British citizen who refused to be prosecuted under the laws in America. To his dying breath he refused to confess because all his property would be seized and he wanted his wife and family to retain it. They did. Rebecca Nurse's body was taken back to the family farm in Danvers and buried in an unmarked grave due to fear she would be exhumed. Here is an article about the body of George Corwin which matches the truth told about him in Salem: www.newenglandhistoricalsociety.com/dirty-laundry-and-a-friend-save-philip-english-from-the-salem-witch-trials/ There is a book called "The Rye Bread Witches" that goes into details about the weather back then. Rye was the major grain crop. The flour being used in breads and cakes, etc. The slave Tituba made the accusing girls cake made from rye flour. Rye is prone to a blight in wet growing seasons called ergot. Lysergic acid diethylamide was derived from ergot. Never heard of that before? Well you have perhaps heard of it's street name back in the day. LSD-25. Can it be all those accusing girls and their hallucinations were caused by ingesting blighted rye? I really think so.

I love your haunted videos, I'm 65 and my grandma and aunt lived in a country home ,no TV ,no radios. And once a week we would have a seance with a horn in the middle of the table. I would never call on the dead now but as a kid in 1965 we had some spooky but fun times. Hope you make more paranormal videos in the future because you do a great job telling a story.

Thank you for another paranormal history. Goosebumps! The music too is something that takes us back to that accursed past. You have created a perfect aura for this type of paranormal history. George Corwin is a perfect testimony of a fallen man. When a man falls he get couple of things in his heart that he cannot remove in his life time. He cannot release all his ill consciousness and becomes stuck. In death the body vanishes but not the will that has wishes and hopes yet to be fulfilled. Strong desires yet to be released! A yarn to be free and get unstuck from the pain they have suffered unto their deaths. Perhaps for this! Perhaps for this they come again and again. Thank you John for your nice presentation! A chapter worthy to note and remember! It is definitely from a glorious page of history that has some lessons for the men to learn! To the men who are here now, surviving and fully awake! Have a nice and warm day, John! .

Thank you for telling this important story. The paternal side of my family (yes, I'm mixed-blood) is descended of Rebecca Nurse. (Yes, I know, the spelling of the last name is different, but she signed her name 16 times on the court records, each time with a different spelling, and our branch of the family got stuck with this one. It used to be considered a sign of literacy to be able to spell the same thing different ways, and she was proud of her education.) I could see a female victim wanting revenge by strangling. Most people assume that the hangings happened in gallows, because of a famous etching by somebody who wasn't there, but in fact the victims were hanged from a tree above an embankment, and there wasn't enough of a drop to break the neck, so the victims strangled slowly to death. Members of the family would leap onto the dangling body to add their weight and hopefully speed the strangulation up, ending the torture--a horrible trauma for anybody forced to help kill their loved one! This may be why Corwin was called "The Strangler". You know, he could have built a gallows. It's not like Salem Village lacked for wood.

Love this story! I have heard of the Joshua Ward house before on other shows of tales of the paranormal. In one of those shows, there was an interview with a man that had been Sheriff of Salem and he tells of weird experiences and having to quit working as sheriff due to a series of health issues that only began AFTER he became sheriff. He did say that before being sheriff he had been a huge skeptic, but became a believer that there are things that just can’t be explained away after everything he went through. I think it’s called “America’s Haunted Houses”, and I have it on VHS (yeah, it’s that old).

Interesting side note on the Corey story, one version of the story has him cursing Corwin after he forced his tongue back in, supposedly cursing anyone who takes the mantle of Sherriff of Salem. True to form, most, if not all Sheriffs of Salem have died of heart problems ever since.

That was a great video! I love the effects and how you presented it! Salem is an amazing place, rich in history as well as the supernatural. I was at the Jonathan Corwin House/or the Witch House where they held the trials. When you tour the house you learn not only about the Witch trials, but you also learn about the construction of the homes and the matrials used and can even view it through an exposed cross section of the wall. They also teach you the culture and lifestyle, and the preparation of foods using the great hearth in the kitchen. There is so much to learn in Salem. Thank you for our walk through history!

@@CuriousHistoryYT oh I hope you get to visit very soon. You will not be disappointed and believe me, give yourself a week because there is so much to see and do. I remember the police officers have a Witch on a broom on their uniform patch. I did a double take in amusement the first time I saw it. I like to haunt cemeteries, because the old tombstones were works of art and would provide you with a mini biography about the person who is buried there. In Boston, and Salem, the cemeteries located in the center of each city are incredible and date back to the 1600's. I wish you a trip to Salem soon!

Good afternoon to you. This was a really fascinating video, and the cinematography is beautiful. That is a handsome building and the land has a gruesome history. My nan had a great aunt who was called a witch, she was a 'wise woman'. She lived alone and was very knowledgeable about natural remedies (at a time when people couldn't afford to pay a doctor, latter half of the 19th C to early 20th C). She also acted as a midwife for the local women, best regards to you and your family.
