Ethel, welcome down the rabbit hole. For the first year of this reno, it was primarily Dan by himself, trudging along doing amazing feats. His relentless drive has turned this Chateau from a crumbling ruin to a beautiful piece of history waiting to be restored. The addition of Nick and now Brian along with our favorite Orange Pants Man, Calvin, when he can be spared has allowed this landmark to shine.

It's most likely architectural terra cotta. If one of them could be removed they could be very easily reproduced. I imagine that it would be easier timewise - and on the budget - to 3D print a few copies in plastic, they being so high. Hideous colour, though...

It will be good progress and a big rise in added value, when Dan fits the roof structure (....and slates) it will have a marked effect on its value more than all the other renovations Dan will carry out except for completion, it also makes it more desirable to a bigger market, no roof equals not many buyers, the sellers were damn lucky Dan took it on!?!

All of that will be hidden under the turret structure but add strength that is needed to hold it all together. All the additions strengthen the structure just like the other roof parts. Will be amazing once the roof is all together, then the tiles going on, and the gutters, and more. Still a long way to go.

The bottom of the turret roof is lower than the concrete ring beam the blockwork is on. The blocks will all end up covered within the roof.
