Anyone watch the Who Killed WCW documentary? Bischoff makes so many different excuses about the match with Sting and Hogan at Starcade you just know he's lying. Then proceeds to wrap it up by saying "Sting was so sure that me and Hulk were gonna pull the rug out from underneath him at the last moment that he pretty much manifested it". He's dodged accountability for 30 plus years and needs to pull Hogans d out of his mouth

I've never seen Starrcade '88 but to me, it sounds awesome on paper. One of my favorite WCW PPVs is SuperBrawl VIII. Booker T having good back to back matches with Rick Martel and Saturn respectively, Jericho vs. Juvi, DDP vs. Benoit, Scott Steiner turning heel, joining the nWo, and becoming the wrestler we know him as today, and even though he got destroyed by Goldberg, it was good seeing Brad Armstrong get a PPV match. And on top of that, you've got Bulldog vs. Mongo. Yeah, the match wasn't a five star classic, but it's cool seeing two Reliving The War legends collide.

11:02 It still shocks me that WCW convinced Madusa to leave WWF/E while she was still a champion there (even convincing her to throw WWF/E's belt in the trash in her WCW debut), only to give their women's championship to someone else and then retire the belt before she could even get it. It makes one wonder why they even hired her. That said, I do think she looked way cooler as Madusa in WCW than she did as Alundra Blayze in WWF/E.

The Dangerous Alliance storyline was great lead to so many incredible matches on both tv and ppv. Shame it got the knees taken from under it with the Bill Watts hiring and that ending Heymans time in the company. Plus the Sting Vader Feud, Catcus Jack, Ron Simmons, the steiners. It may have been up in the nosebleed seats, but I was in attendance at the Scope in Norfolk for Starcade '88 and it was AMAZING. Sadly, I tried pitching loose leaf paper airplanes in the air in the hopes that even one of them would have been caught on camera. Turns out, a bunch of folks with money to spend on closer seats got what I hoped they saw as an empty love note when it landed... Or hit them in the head... Or fell into their beer cup... Dusty/Sting vs Road Warriors match clips made the local news that night, near perfectly catching Stings leap from the top turnbuckle to land an impressive cross body block on Hawk who was leaned over the audience barrier. The roof seemed to come off the building when Tommy Young counted to 3 as Flair had Lex's shoulders on the mat and his own feet across the middle rope. What!?! The Ref didn't SEE Flair CHEAT?!? Ha ha ha ha ha, Luger Fans! Maybe next year! Well, if Lex keeps whining about having the 'Utmost Confidence' for another 12 months!.

3:00 Even though Luger vs. Giant and Flair/Arn vs. Mongo/Greene weren't good matches by themselves, I think the storytelling in both matches kind of elevates them. In my mind, Luger's showing in the main event set him up as a credible threat to The Giant as champion and a legitimate main event babyface. It was sort of the beginning of his year-plus run that culminated in the world title win in the summer of '97. With the Horsemen vs. NFL'ers match, they beautifully followed up on the Benoit match from earlier in the night and re-established the Horsemen as a unit. You could tell the crowd was really into that. Unfortunately, WCW went on to book the Horsemen into a total mess by the end of the year, but everything they did at the Great American Bash was a terrific setup for the group. Real shame they dropped the ball on that. Also, the Sting/Regal match was pretty good too - I'd put that with Benoit/Sullivan and Mysterio/Malenko as one of the highlights, even if it was a bit less fantastic than those two matches.

Cool vid as usual, I do realize this is strictly WCW so the JCP golden era isn't included, but I still wanna mention that the original NWO run can't hold a candle to the original Four Horseman one, anyway mighty glad at least Vader's reign of terror and the late 90s cruiserweights are both featured prominently, while the #1 here is nonsense despite the excellent Flair vs. Steamboat.
