Good lord, the man literally states that the pathophysiology of atherosclerosis "doesn't make any sense to him" yet has the gall to claim that LDL is not casual of ascvd. The lipid hypothesis is largely considered by actual experts to have the strongest evidence of any biomedical disease process. The strength of this evidence is akin to the strength of evidence supporting hennemans size principle of motor unit recruitment for my exercises physiology people. We have numerous genetic mendelian randomization trials with 50 year follow ups and countless RCTs that all support the exact same dose and time dependent relationship with LDL cholesterol. That being: the lower and earlier we can get LDL cholesterol the lower absolute risk is for development of ascvd. It's literally that simple which is why in the genetic studies we see people who have very low LDL cholesterol have as much as a 90% lower lifetime risk of heart disease. The wonderful thing that Dr. Ancel keys and dozes of other researchers in the mid 1900s did was demonstrate the cholesterol influencing effects of different fatty acids which have been uncontested to this very day. The data is literally that rock solid. Saturated fats have twice the LDL raising effect that polyunsaturated fats have on lowering LDL, hence why the general nutrition recommendations are to limit saturated fat and instead replace it with polyunsaturated, mono unsaturated fats or whole grains as all have cardio protection effects. The 50 year follow up data from the seven countries study still depicts this relationship of higer saturated fat content and higher heart disease risk with an incredibly strong correlation, which we now know is casual, of 0.88 or higher. LDL is even depicted in several medical textbooks as the first step in ascvd. Sure, high blood sugar on disband high blood pressure can make this entrance of LDL into the endothelial wall easier, but even in a completely healthy person this can still happen with apo B containng lipoproteins less than 70nm in diameter which even the VLDLs and large LDLs are. Again, this is why we see little to no heart disease in people with genetically low LDL from birth and why lowering LDL levels in people with high cholesterol reduces risk of heart disease. No this lower level is not dangerous in any measurable sense. Blood cholesterol is not the same as cholesterol made within cells so that's a non-starter topic right there. Furthermore, this idea of "people were so healthy back in the late 1800s early 1900s, there was no disease" is complete nonsense. We have MRI data from mummies which shows very advanced ascvd and heart disease. Eating less saturated fat is an overwhelmingly good thing one can do for heath. My last example is from a 30 year long study from Finland where the national food system was overhauled to reduce saturated fat intake from 22-23% of daily calories to 10% or so and the country saw an 80% reduction in heart disease. How does one explain that in other sense aside from lower saturated fat intake led to lower heart disease? You can't. I beg everyone, do not listen to this man. His information is false on the topic and LDL does matter.

When replacing butter (again so long as weight gain isn't occuring) the oils overwhelmingly lead to better health outcomes including lower risk of death from all causes, lower risk of type 2 diabetes, and most strongly are associated with lower risk of heart disease events and death.

There's truth in what Rick says about fruit oils being diluted with seed oils. Look for the tests that UC Davis did on major olive and avocado oil brands (note: you can find some high-quality brands in their results). They found tons of fakes and also plenty of rancid, oxidized samples. High-quality olive oils are actually very low in the demon polyunsaturated components. The body DOES need a small amount of PUFAs, which are found in all the animal fats as well as the relatively safe olive, avocado, coconut and palm oils. I know Paul takes issue with the polyphenols in olive oil, but many like Steven Gundry make a convincing case otherwise. Good luck! Oils are important.

@@woolgathrr The older studies are NOT "less biased". They are the promotion of some "nutritionist" trying to sell their program. I don't think anyone is sure about anything but one thing is clear to everyone: Seed oils can't be as harmful as claimed (if they are harmful at all) otherwise there would not be so much contradictory data. For example there is zero contradictory data about the ill effects of cigarettes.

It's the refining process that makes any oil unhealthy. The origin of the oil is less important - the traditional process of extracting oil is perfectly natural, no chemicals, just mechanical press + cloth filter. This fixation on "seed oil" as a general boogeyman is not based on strong science.

Hummus dates back to the 13th century and is primarily chickpeas, seseame (tahini$) and olive oil, now can someone explain to me why he is saying 18th-19th century
@brawndothethirstmutilator9848 Жыл бұрын
Olive oil is a fruit oil not a seed oil. Smashed chickpeas and sesame seeds are also not seed oils. That being said, there is evidence of mustard seed oil in China going back at least 500 years. I think what Paul is talking about is the widespread consumption of industrial seed oils in a whole population’s food supply. That’s a modern phenomenon.

I'm just venturing into this for the first time. I'm pretty healthy, 43, 6ft, 180lbs. Already eat a lot of animal foods (cream, cheese, eggs, meat, butter) but also eat a lot of veg. I half wonder if the veg gives me the year round rhinitis symptoms I seem to suffer from. So, I'm going to give what is done a try. Animal produce, with some fruit. And some raw dairy (getting in some raw milk soon). I'm a little nervous about getting enough electrolytes, but, I'm willing to give it a go.

Well, they do use Hexane to produce seed oils... it is an industrial chemical, common in cleaning products, paint and adhesives. It is well known to be toxic to humans, so there's that... that's all I need to know, for me there is no need to debate and compare anecdotes.

@@battai0912 False. Extra Virgin Olive oil is fresh (not rancid unlike seed oils) and nutritionally correct (unlike seed oils) and is safe to cook with (There's countering evidence in regards to the carcinogenic at high heat claims)/ Others on this list is Coconut OIl and Avocado Oil. Tip: Oils are best fresh, since all oils oxidize (oxidation makes food turn rancid) then the more directly sourced the better for your oils (Sourced from all over the world is not ideal.) Tip 2: Oil and fat are exceedingly health for you, but not all fats/oils are healthy for you. Be mindful of what you consume and notice the crazy difference!

It's probably a Mandela Effect. I had that happen with Lex Friedman. Suddenly one day it was "Lex Fridman" podcast. I searched on Google and there are still tons of websites that say "Lex Friedman." If you search Google using a forced search, you can use Google's quantum connections to see the "residue" of previous timelines. Once you actually see the residue, it's very disturbing. In this case, for as long as I can remember, it has always been CarnivoreMD. I don't remember his channel ever being called "Paul Saladino." Unless it was several years ago. He hasn't been a carnivore for several years now, at least 2 or 3 years?

If seed oils are the cause of increasing heart disease and obesity, why did cholesterol started to be an issue in mid 90s even though seed oils decrease cholesterol?
