I consider Redemption Island a pure Pagonging. Matt was voted out of their tribe, so he no longer was part of their tribe post merge. This is why Marquesas was such an underrated season: because it was the first season to fail a Pagonging attempt. John Caroll of Rotu has all the power in the game at the Final 9: he had his alliance of four, plus Neleh and Pascal, and with that group of 6 it was clear Maraamu was screwed. But because of John’s own ego and cockiness, the 5 outsiders turned on the Rotu Four alliance and took them all out, making it the first season where the winner was sort of up in the air. It was also the first season where the final 2 was from two different tribes!

Although the pagonging is a predictable strategy, I find it very entertaining and very effective. The genius behind it cannot be denied! It provides a common enemy for every player so it makes sense for everyone to stay together even when in the long run it might not be the best idea for some players. Very few things bring people together like a common enemy.

Pagongings can be really entertaining at times, seeing the underdog go all the way to the end like in Vanuatu makes for great television. Similarly, when you have big characters like in Cook Islands and Heroes vs. Villains it can be enjoyable. So like I really love exact-words lies. But like. The trick to making exact words lies work is that your reveal of it has to highlight the things that shouldn't quite make sense. In Vanuatu, Jeff is like "Did I say anything that made you think you were merging?" And it's like yeah, Jeff. You DID say things that made them think they're merging. You gotta play it off more like "Oh, I see how you got the wrong idea from that, but I did say..." He should have played off the "Our merge went well" more like "Well, I'm glad it went well, that's exactly what we hoped for. That should mean that when we actually merge the tribes, it should be a pretty smooth transition." Then at the response be like "It sounds like I wasn't clear. I didn't give out new merch or a new name. And I DID say we were trying something new. We've done merges on every season. I didn't say you were merging. You're just sharing the beach." Like, the trick is to make the response not be "You son of a bitch" but "Awww, shit, that was clever!"

After the merge, the plan was to eliminate all the original Mogo-Mogo members. But then Shi-Ann won immunity and that forced the original Chapera members to vote out Alicia. But then Shi-Ann was voted out the next vote and then the Chapera members had to turn on each other. Survivor: Exile Island. You could say there was a pagonging even though the tribes were originally split into four tribes (for 2 days). Once the merge hit, the Casya members eliminated three of the remaining La Mina members except for Terry because he kept winning immunity. When he finally lost, he was voted out. Survivor: Tocantins. @@Lsaldana92 I don't think minority pagongs are the same as a majority pagonging. Because it is only possible by the majority tribe turning on each other and self-destructing. Those seasons are a lot more chaotic and unpredictable (except through the edit) and are usually fun to watch. The reason why pagongings are usually boring is because the season gets too predictable and people are too afraid to make a move and not enough people play to win.

Pretty surprised you didnt mention All Stars as Chapera kind of just dominated the entire game

It gets weird since they had that last minute tribe swap before the merge that messes it up further since Amber swapped tribes and then won the game.

I dont mind it expectly if the team I like is in the numbers. Sometimes it can get boring but I have a good time either way

I'm glad they swap tribes up when something like this happens now. It can be fun to watch for the first 2 weeks or so, but then it just becomes such an obvious snowball that it gets kind of lame. When one tribe is down 3-4 members against the other, you kind of know exactly how the challenges are gonna go. They have extra hands to make camp life much easier, and they can give some members of their tribe much needed breaks during the less important challenges. In the early seasons when they didn't give every contestant a plethora of medical checks and vitamins on a daily basis, sitting out your strongest during a reward challenge so they could carry in the immunity was a huge brain strat. Being able to save that energy for the more important challenge is lowkey unfair. It's not quite as prevalent anymore *because* of all the daily vitamins the players get to keep their energy up, but steamrolls still happen and I'm glad they swap it up now. It makes for a boring season usually.

Vanuatu was a pagonging of the men and then it was a reverse where the women were picked off instead of the men

Vanuatu is my favorite season for this "Anti-Pagong" reason. Chris is the last man standing with the women determined to ensure one of their own wins, and they easily have the majority. But he held on, truly earning the title of sole survivor.

I don't mind pagongings. The person at the top of the hierarchy of the dominant tribe is doing super work to make it happen. This doesn't get enough credit and sappy audiences over-rate unsuccessful underdogs.

I get it was the first season and strategy trends had not really been established yet in Survivor, but my god do the Pagong tribe come off as idiots here. 3 of your own people go down to the same 4 "mysterious" votes and you think "there might be an alliance but IDK" are you serious?
@OnceUponAnIsland2 жыл бұрын
Pagong was anti alliance, so they never seriously considered Tagi having one especially since the Tagi 4 were tight lipped about it.
@denniswilliams65192 жыл бұрын
@@OnceUponAnIsland Tagi played it well not denying that and it was a move ahead of its time, so I give them some leeway. Still, when 4 votes systematically target your tribe and even Jeff is openly asking Sue about a Tagi alliance you'd think at the least it would raise some alarms to action or something.

My name is Zachary Poloncarz I’m 19 and I just applied to be on the show. I don’t know if this will reach anyone, but if I’m cast I will be the youngest winner in the show’s history my audition tape is on KZbin and I know that I will be the next funny kid/golden boy and if you get me to a live audition or casting call, I can show you who I really am and then when I’m cast I will be the young kid to revitalize America’s love of this show because I want America to love it just as much as I do!
