This toy line is the epitome of “they don’t make them as they used to”. Holograms is the coolest thing back then....and kinda is even now.

Wow! I never realised I’d owned so many of the released Visionaries toys! I think i ended up with all but the big Darkling Lords vehicle and character! One of my happiest childhood memories is when I managed to snap the leg of my Mortdred figure and, because he came with a vehicle, I couldn’t buy him separately. So, my mum wrote to Hasbro and, instead of writing and asking for a replacement figure, she wrote them an epic story of how Mortdred had lost his leg in battle against the ‘acursed’ Spectral Knights and so, she, as representative of the Darkling Lords, was pleading with Merklin for help. A few weeks later a new Mortdred figure arrived in the post along with a letter saying they wouldn’t normally replace these figures free of charge but that the whole office had so loved the story of Mortdred’s fall, they felt obliged to ensure he could return to the melee! 😱🤣

Honestly, sincerely, thank you very much for making this video and putting so much effort into re-enacting the genius behind the concept of visionaries. This was the only cartoon that ever truly captured my imagination. It aired in Zimbabwe from the early 90s up until about 2001. We only had one television station there and the network would just replay the same season over and over again. Somehow it never got old!

Each toy needed to be bundled with the animal totems as well. It was a great series, but as a kid, not having the animals was a huge problem. I found myself not wanting to 'waste' any Birthday or Christmas presents asking for the larger Visionaries toys, because what I really wanted was the blue Cheetah, Eagle, Lion etc. Also where were the women? Poor. I bought the male knights, but it was a flawed toy line without the animals.

I tried collecting them all. Transformers, GI Joe, Visionaries, C.O.P.S, Air Raiders, Battle Beasts, and Inhumanoids. I have since sold most of the toys after lettmy kids play with them but I so have some Transformers and still have my collection of Air Raiders.

@Loremastrful6 жыл бұрын
A smartly done retrospective. The holographic animals you put in really make it stand out. I think Hasbro really missed a trick by not including the spectral animals. I'd also suggest giving the Darkling Lords a different color palette. Blue vs Green are too complimentary. They need something that clashes like dark red or crimson. The cartoon tried to stuff all of its story into that 13 episode season. I think that's why its remembered over Rock Lords or Sky Commanders, but it also makes it kind of sloppy in the execution. If I could give it a teens reboot like Thundercats or He-Man. I'd probably work with a smaller cast and one single mission over 13 episodes.
