@@dionwoollaston5717 They "recommend" it because it ensure the bolt is all the way forward. It's a roller delayed blowback mechanism, it won't work otherwise. Also, it ensures the soldiers using them will have a chambered round everytime. If anything breaks, the government can pay for it to be replaced.

The slap is pretty much the only certain way to ensure a roller delayed blowback or roller locked weapon goes fully into battery. Either that or you make damn sure the charging handle was all the way back with absolutely no interference going forward when you let it go.
