I actually like this game, Quite a lot actually. And though it may seem strange to those who have just watched this video, it actually makes a lot of sense. It was back in 2004 maybe, and my dad took me to a game store because, we had gone on vacation, and it was raining, every stinking day. We had a laptop but no games to play, so my dad decided to let me pick one. He showed me to the place with all the computer games, and after a few minutes of searching, there it was The Hobbit. I think what drew me to it was not only that my mother would read this book to me to sleep, but also that font Pause the video and look, it is so dang sexy, and screams adventure. So we took it home to my sister, and we booted it up, she was a bit skeptical at first, but once we started playing, we realized just how fun it was. It was probably our first 3D platformer, and so we weren't spoiled by the likes of Mario 64 and Banjo Kazooie, Roller coaster tycoon, and Zeus Master of Olympus were probably the only other games we owned, that and of course all the Humungous Entertainment games, If you didn't play those as a kid you are MISSING out. But anyway, back to The Hobbit, My most fondest memories are of sitting crammed around a tiny laptop playing this game,-mostly watching my sister play actually.- as rain battered against the windows. We went through the shire, through caves dark and caverns deep, over hills, valleys, and down rivers, snuck away from trolls and fought giant armadillos and tiny frog beasts, killed a necromancer and his army of skeletons, were poisoned again, and again, by tiny annoying spiders. And finally we came to the journey's end I can't tell you how many times we died, how many times we failed, misstepped and fell, or got cooked by trolls. I remember the pure satisfaction from finally beating the game, especially because of how buttclenchingly hard it was! But after all, it's not the destination that matters, it's the journey. And by God did this game have quite a tale to tell, It's very rare that I find a game nowadays that conveyed that sense of adventure to me, Certainly we have the likes of Zelda and other such games, and though Zelda is significantly better, don't get me wrong, Link is and always will be a badass. I always found The Hobbit to be just as fun, because the game does a great job of conveying the helplessness of being the poor hobbit, Bilbo. It's a great quest, fun to play, and to make fun of. It's super difficult but in a way that makes you feel like you accomplished something. I would gladly go there and back again, if my cd didn't corrupt and stop me from ever playing it again. Still though, if you have read this long I implore you to give this game a shot, it's fun to play, if not just for the laugh factor of how shoddily made a lot of it is. Go now, and witness the Hobbit tale, of Bilbo Baggins.

Awesome story. I have really nostalgic memories of watching my older brothers play Ocarina of Time and it's sequel (which was my favorite to watch, just because of it's creepiness) Majora's Mask when I was a little kid. You never forget those memories.

I'm positive that was Beorn. Beron and his line of people could transform into gigantic bears. The movies don't do much justice to him, nor does this game apparently. In the book, Gandalf and company find his house after the Eagles save the company. (Tom B. isn't mentioned in The Hobbit). Beorn, in addition to protecting the company, gives them lodging, supplies, ponies, and information. He's solemn and strong, but also show great care to animals and nature. In the Battle of the Five Armies, Beorn single handly kills the Goblin leader, making it easy for the Men, Elves, and Dwarfs to clean up the rest.
@Volair8 жыл бұрын
[TL;DR] The "bear man" is Beorn. He transforms into a bear. He's a total B.A. and never needed to be saved. *Beorn does the saving.*

This game was one of my childhood standbys. I will say that as I've aged, I've come to realize that it was a lot less, uh, polished than I thought it was at the time. But I will always stand by the fact that the soundtrack to this game is stunning. The track that plays when Bilbo is still in the Shire (which you can hear around 2:34) makes my heart melt to this very day.

This game has so many good memories for me. I've played through it like 10 times. It covers the story fairly well and has a good combination of sneaking (because Bilbo is hired as a BURGLAR and slowly becomes one as the book progresses) and fighting. Sure the fighting controls weren't the best but it was a fun challenge. Plus the music is pretty awesome. Simple, but awesome. (I love the oboe and bassoon combo in The Gathering of the Clouds.

I LOVED this game as a kid. It was the first one I remember really trying hard to beat. I can only remember the first and second level, and the Smaug level. The first level was always tedious and boring, the second killed me more times than I care to admit (particularly at the stealth section) and Smaug... While getting TOO him was annoying, running AWAY from him was a ton of fun. At least as a kid.

It's decent enough, and provides a nice contrast to the penultimate level as that level is puzzle-based, whereas the final one is combat-based. However, the end leaves a bad taste in my mouth because you literally just have to interact with 4 barrels to win. They even give you an infinite supply of courage points, implying there's a fierce battle. But no. Barrels. Yay. (Also the last save point is right before this and since there's no level select and only 4 save slots the replay value of the game is next to none)

Honestly this game doesn't look that bad at all, this whole video just seemed like you nitpicking at a old game, like complaints that were common for games in 2003

Wow...... as a child this was the one game i owned for my PC and i spent HOURS playing it. I loved it, to this day one of my favorite games just for nostalgia's sake. I haven't played or even looked at it since. what a weird nostalgia trip. so much time spent staring at the back of Bilbo's head

Hisss. I loved this game and always will. I first read the Hobbit when I was seven, and shortly after I discovered this game. I adored the open world and being able to explore the scenes I had loved so much, and the quests were so much fun to me. I loved the sneaking levels and the ogres made me laugh. This game will always be near and dear to my heart.

Man you're crazy! this game was great. it was one of the very first gamecube games me and my sister ever got. our older sisters got it for us and we (already loving the LOTR movies) were like "ew really what's this?" but then we played it and were like whaaat. seriously we played it dozens of times. oh the memories. sure it's not perfect and often silly and glitchy, but it's still a permanent part of our game collection today :)
@Dominicus239 жыл бұрын
This game is more polished on consoles and the combat system us much more fluid in the game cube then pc and xbox I'm my experience. Other than that. I disagreed with you on every front. 1. Bilbos a bandit, he's supposed to sneak. 2. While your right that one level is to fleshed out other than that the puzzles are streamlined and pretty easy. 3 funny how in this game taking yourself out of the adventure to use an item is criticized when in idk the legend of Zelda no one cares. 4 in game cutscenes were never really good in 2003 and the cgi ones look pretty nice. 5 the combat system with a controller at least works fine, perhaps you're just bad

Domenic Volpe Yeah, I had it for both Gamecube (the one I beat then traded to a friend for some old Zelda games) and PS2 (the copy I lost before I could beat which is why I got it on Gamecube). The graphics were good pretty much the same between them, and the controls felt great either way. I loved it.

I have the Xbox version and this game was my first, so it is very dear to me. I was surprised to see some people of these glitches, and here are the differences between the PC and Xbox: Xbox didn't have these glitches No graphical glitches People had teeth Controls were perfectly fine IMO the Xbox version was better, and HOLY FUCK the spider boss was the bane of my existence. So was the old man at Watertown. I LOVED this game so so much, and I still have it. I replayed it multiple times and never got bored. I was about 5 years old when i got the game.

Oh, wow! I remember that series! I was actually introduced to it through the third game, strangely enough. I thought it was pretty stupid that people kept whining about the games bashing Australians by allegedly using offensive stereotypes... even though the game was made by Australians and didn't put them down at all. Another strange thing... my favorite character ended up being an NPC in the third game by the name of "Shade the Ghost Bat". (Not an actual ghost; just a species of bat.) She's the daughter of one of the bosses in the first game. There was just so much personality put into the six lines she had. She even talked about wanting to join Bush Rescue, help out Ty, and make amends for her mother's actions, so I thought she was going to become important to the plot, but sadly, it never happened. Pretty much ALL the NPCs that were just standing around in Cassopolis had gobs of personality brought about through just a few lines, but she was my favorite!
